So,

I'm about 500 miles into my new Turbo S, and I just noticed that when I approach a red light, there appears on the instrument cluster a little red light icon with countdown seconds that is actually timing the light turn from red to green. How in the heck is Porsche doing that? Is it somehow sensing the light timer that is somehow broadcast? I'm in Portland, Oregon, btw.

I think it's awesome, but I'm curious, does any know what setting or feature is controlling this?

Audi has been doing this for years. This is the 1st I've heard of Porsche doing it. Love the idea tho...
Here is a release from Audi that explains it:
https://media.audiusa.com/releases/412
Very interesting. Looks like I'm in one of the pilot cities:

"Prior to CES, “The very first proof of concept between Audi and TTS in the U.S. was three signals here in the Portland, Oregon, region,” said Bauer.

“We installed a laptop with two network cards inside their traffic control center," Continued Bauer. "It was plugged into their network because it was not connected to the internet. It was a completely insulated network just dealing with the traffic signals. We basically built a fully functional TLI for those signals. Those results are what got Michael Zweck and his colleagues to say, ‘Okay, that sounds very promising and doable. Let's see how we can grow this.’”

Thanks very much for this info.

I had it in my 2019 Etron, and sure many Audis has it, i just never heard about it being implemented in a Porsche, i have a 2025 base and never seen it, what kind of options you have for the interior that may include this?

Pretty much all of them. That’s why I was trying to figure it what option it is that this comes with, or if it something that is standard on some models like the TS. Here is the build code: PSEHP8F3.

I think in South Korea they just show you the countdown to green counter next to the traffic signal (they tried showing the countdown to red too, but that increased accidents, while countdown to green statistically reduced accidents at intersections). I guess in other places, like the US, governments saw the revenue opportunity to sell this information to automakers who can charge a monthly subscription fee to show it. The OP is from Oregon, where the government copyrights its laws too, meaning you have to pay to read them (illegal to just photocopy them, or pirate digitally online), do I don't doubt they wouldn't want to give away the countdown to green for free.

More Audification. Perhaps it is included with fake air vents as standard.

More seriously, this will be towards driving assistance systems, also falsely known by some as ‘auto pilot’

Ok good news!
I stand corrected, i drove with the base 2025 today around SF (downtown area next to the EA Harrison charging station) and the red light timer appeared!

So i guess it's on any PCM on the 2025+ cars!
