Still have it.RX-8 for me, way back in 2004
Very nice looking, I agree. But I think they translated the concept car into reality very very well compared to most other efforts. My one gripe: Why don't the production Mission-E wheels look more like the concept car? Would seven spokes have been that big of a deal?![]()
Was going through my old pics and found this.
Was so disappointed when I saw they didn't go with the suicide doors.
100% with you as I had similar experience.100%! Had the same experience with our i3. Such a PITA. The worst part was closing the doors on the passenger side after the kids got out of the car and ran away, while I was still in the driver's seat.
If they stuck with this design, I wouldn't have had to wait for a Cross Turismo to get a larger opening for the trunk. Fold the rear seats down and you get a ton of space on the back with huge access from either side.![]()

Crash safety / component cost. Why would any OEM make a concept not look exact like the final production vehicle?
I understand design exercises, but we live in a world that everyone constantly sees these concept cars.
It wrongly sets the expectation for the consumer
That's true for design exercise concept cars that won't be production.Crash safety / component cost.
