I have a pretty loaded 2020 Taycan 4S with the following options:

  • Premium Package with Lane Change Assist (LCA)
  • Porsche InnoDrive Incl. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Surround View
Was ParkAssist an option back in the 2020 builds? Is this something I can get added via software or some retrofit option?

Was thinking the same thing on my turbo. You would think all the sensors are there for inodrive but you never know with Porsche. I for one was surprised you could add inodrive

My car doesn’t have the sensors needed for Innodrive but thats fine since I don’t want it :)

Having written that I have had a car with self parking capability since 2012 and have never bothered to try it either.

I have this and it adds an extra sensor near the front wheel. Just a software update won’t be enough. I have only used it once. It works but is slow. The only reason I wanted it was for the rear and front traffic alert. Quite expensive 900 euro, but it works.

That answers it there thanks. Mainly to help the wife from curbing the wheels constantly haha

Thanks for the details. Do you know where this front sensor is? I have one right on the wheel arch but I guess that's not the one?

I wouldn't bother...I could park better when drunk :)

I was hoping the tech would have moved on since our 2016 XC90 (which also has this). Alas not so.

The spaces it needs are so much bigger than necessary, and it's so slow getting into them, that I haven't bothered to use it in anger.

I may try the "remote parking" function, which I think allows you to slide the car backwards/forwards into tight spaces when not in the car....but the problem with that is that if the tightness is due to other cars either side, how do they get in and out of theirs?

An option I wouldn't personally have spec'd.

Yes that is the one. Maybe it also comes with surround view.

Indeed. I wouldn’t bother either. Not worth is.

good point about the other cars next to yours

in Belgium remote parking is disabled. So only auto parking and cross traffic warning.

If any of the obstacles represent other vehicles that other people might be moving when your car is that close to them, does that really seem like somewhere you want to be leaving your car?

So not to rain on your parade, but are you sure you need park assist? I have park assist on my car. It's not that good! It might even be bad? I have used it a handful of times. I do not trust it at all! It's extremely slow. Once you learn the dimensions of the car it's easier and faster to just park it yourself. I also haven't been able to get remote park assist to work at all. App just spins
