I suspect part of the issue with the dealership experience is the lack of knowledge the service advisors have.

I suspect if you go in with a 911 or Cayenne and explain an issue, they’ll know exactly what you’re on about within 15 seconds and be able to explain in more technical terms to the mechanic etc, so good resolution most likely.

With the Taycan, when you explain what the problem is, you can see their eyes glazing over, perhaps as they know they’ll have no idea how to resolve an intermittent charging failure or problem with regen brakes or whatever. Then comes the ‘cannot replicate issue’ or ‘it’s exactly same as our other cars, so working normally’ shite.

Doesn’t foster good will as you know you’re either falling on deaf ears or going the be fobbed off. And you know the car will carrying on doing whatever might be a minor but irritating problem (or something more serious) with a bloody expensive car.

And then there’s all the recall and quality control guff on top of it.

I love my car, but dealer experience means I’ll avoid Porsche in the future. Can’t wait for independent/specialist porsche service centres to become EV capable. I used to have great experience with my old Panamera at one of those. Not sure how long that is in coming however.
You have a point. However, the dealership in question failed at non specific Taycan issues also. In general, just a very poor service all around. One example. My Taycan suffered from day one with the known door card issue. Basically, no matter what the dealer did to resolve bangs and cracks coming from the doors and b pillar they couldn’t resolve it. So they had to order new parts. These parts were on order for 2 years. (Yes. 2 years) i chased them constantly for updates. Long story short. The dealer were purchased by another group. All the same people etc. No real staff changes took place. The next time my car was called in for another fault to be fixed, this time it was losing all power and stopped on the highway. Had to switch off and back on again. Laughable now. It wasn’t at the time when stuck in the LIVE fast lane of the motorway. Whilst the car was being looked at (btw, they couldn’t find a fault and nothing had been logged) i asked about my door card back order to which they replied, sorry, we lost all our back orders when we swapped systems so you will have to place a new order for them.

I was with the same dealer for the last couple of years ownership (moved from Wilmslow).
They were great at first, but seemed to go downhill once they got overwhelmed with Taycans.

I had a charging port door that would freeze open when it was below -5c (pic) and would start to work again once the temperature rose a few degrees - typically after daybreak.

They said they wouldn't look at it unless I took it in frozen open, but I would need to book an appointment weeks ahead. 🤣
Pathetic.

Getting a refund on the warranty was another bundle of laughs. ......
Porsche warranty said I needed to take a number of things into the dealer (proof of sale etc, etc). It was the only way they would process my refund.

So i took them in to the dealers.

They looked at me like I was from Mars and seemed to have no idea what I was doing there. 😵
Couldn't have been less helpful.

I think there are all manner of other warranty complications I never really tried to get my head around. Something to do with no refunds if you’d made a claim and certain conditions as to when you could sell the car with the warranty attached and when you had to cash it in with the dealer. Dunno!

you’d think they were trying to make it as hard as possible or something….
