Any pics of the paint chips ? How long are you planning on keeping the car ? I had a Tesla Model 3 Performance that had a paint chip and the PPF installer touched it up with the Tesla Dr. Colorchip kit and made sure the repair was level with the rest of the paint. Once the Xpel was installed, I couldn't tell where the chip was.

I also had a Nissan 350Z that had a pretty big chip caused by the service department. They had a professional touch-up person fix the damage. He touched up the chip, wet sanded to level and then polished the clear coat. Couldn't tell where the chip was after that.

I know it all depends on the size of the chip, where they are located and how the lighting and sight lines hits the damage. Just playing devil's advocate as it's only original once.....

rock chips on the wheels. for some reason I thought the paint on the Mission e wheels would be Super tough but i have chips on 2 of 4 of the wheels and if you get a power washer close it can only get worse. the spokes are perfect

For folks picking up and driving their car Long distance, you can also apply temporary ppf. I applied it at the dealership with them staring at me. Took me an hour to cover the front end. Ppf cost me at the time 200 for a big bundle of xpel track wrap.

Oh no. They’re definitely chips. It’s pretty bad. I ordered touch up paint out of desperation and sadness.

Dr. Colorchip is the way to go. It’s by far the easiest and most convenient way to deal with chips, IME.

I drive my Taycan between Virginia and Florida several times a year, returning tomorrow actually. After 33,000 miles I have no paint chips or windshield cracks, although I've taken some pretty loud hits, and the PPF and windshield protection film have some scars. Last week I was going >80 mph when a large piece of gravel hit my windshield, with no visible damage. I also drove to Michigan during highway construction season with some loud gravel impacts. Protective films for the win!

I got one of those fluid writer pens to take care of the chips myself. I’ll test it on one of the chips and if it looks good then I’ll do all of them before taking the car to the detailer.

Since you're going down this route, id suggest using a syringe with a 18 or 20 gauge blunt tip. I find that .5mm is too narrow. Plus if it's on the face of your bumper, the tool you're looking to use will spill.

One week after delivery I had 4 x large chips on lower front bumper, went immediately for a full Xpel PPF. Installer was happy he could spot repair the chips and he made them invisible. Two years and 50,000 km later no further damage to front of car other than a few small almost invisible impacts on the PPF. However strongly recommend you have the installer put a double layer on the rear doors in front of the back wheels to match the triangle shaped piece that comes on the car. My single layer PPF (installer removes the original small piece of Porsche PPF) is badly damaged on both back doors and needs replacing now. Besides that, make sure you find the best installer in your area. I’m not happy with the amount of areas that have lifted slightly on mine allowing dirt in at the edges. With a crayon it really shows up as black lines. IMO your installer is best placed to determine if you need a respray.

My car got a bunch of rock chips within 500 miles and I was very upset. Taycan is an awesome car and I think we should just keep driving and enjoy it : )

I tend to keep my cars for longer time so I think its worth getting PPF installed, I got touch-up paint and going to have PPF installer do touch up before installing PPF

I just finished an ~800 mile road trip to/from Sacramento and not a single scratch/chip/dent on the car. Overnight my cat decided to use the car as its personal dance pad and apparently fell off the roof of the car onto the hood, scratching the paint ?‍ Thankfully am taking the car in for XPEL + Ceramic coating tomorrow and hoping they can fix it, but I am not a happy cat owner today ? Ordered a car cover immediately after!

If you have many rock chips you're driving too close to the car in your of you.
It's just that simple.
Getting the car PPF isn't going to solve the rock chips now, it's too late obviously.
I'd suggest a respray and a change in driving style.
