If you have many rock chips you're driving too close to the car in your of you.
It's just that simple.
Getting the car PPF isn't going to solve the rock chips now, it's too late obviously.
I'd suggest a respray and a change in driving style.
Unfortunately I can’t help when people over take me and kick up rocks, nor can I avoid all cars on a busy interstate especially during the holiday season. I drove as defensively as I realistically could but the car is just a rock chip magnet. Definitely not as simple as “just back up”. Otherwise my car would still be perfect.

When people overtake you you're too slow.
Just kidding mate, I guess the roads in your country are just dirty.
Maybe not always, hence your other experience, but just unlucky you were driving there at that time, it happens...

I would’ve loved to be cruising at 90 MPH believe me lol I had a couple of situations where I got to a charger at 4% and I had to exercise self control. My touch up paint should be here today so I’ll see if I can fill in the problem areas.

Did you go through with DAC yet? I was able to set an appointment with them for tomorrow.
I didn’t yet becuase my car doesn’t arrive until March. I have gone over there to speak with the owner and he’s a good dude. I showed him some light scratches on my 850i and he buffed them out for me free of charge. Check out their IG page too.

I had my Taycan trailered from the dealer to the detailer without me driving it a single mile….told the dealer to do a wash only. No dealership wax or tire goop upon delivery. Car is now fully PPF protected, coated (including wheels/calipers) and tinted. This isn’t cost effective though, so I can’t recommend in good conscience but if peace of mind and ease of maintenance is important, it’s the tax one must pay.

Given where the OP is now, respray and PPF of the front clip is likely the best path forward.
Not for everyone… but I’m taking the same approach for my delivery later in 2023 (hopefully!). Trying to keep my first EV & Porsche pristine, as much as possible, while still being my daily driver.

@RAHRCR - just curious, you took official delivery from the dealer (i.e., car cover unveiling) and then had the car transported to the detailer? Or had the car transported back to the dealer after PPF and took official delivery? Either way, I presume you had to sign paperwork in order to send it to the detailer.

rock chips on the wheels. for some reason I thought the paint on the Mission e wheels would be Super tough but i have chips on 2 of 4 of the wheels and if you get a power washer close it can only get worse. the spokes are perfect
I’ve read about wheel chipping a few times. While I like the look of wheels matching exterior color for certain colors, I was also concerned about chipping and stayed with the default silver. Not sure how best to protect chipping on the wheels.

I had the whole car PPF immediately (it was towed to the shop). In the first week or two after I had already noticed a nice ding on the PPF that looks to almost clear the film! Since, there's new dings here or there on the hood / front-end. The Taycan is definitely a rock magnet.

I took a bit of a risk. No unveiling at the dealership. Only a pre and post signing inspection. I was adamant that I did not want “dealer prep”. Car had the plastic pulled off, a basic wash, and whatever voodoo the dealer does to the vehicle to get it out of transport mode. After I paid for it, I had it picked up by the detailer and trailered directly to him via enclosed flat bed. My detailer handled the decontamination, paint correction, full car PPF, tint of the windows/windshield and coating of the paint, wheels and brake calipers. This worked well for me.

Looks like I’ll be able to get away without a respray. Detailer is using touch up paint on the chips prior to PPF/ceramic coating install!

I think this is all much more dependent on where you drive/live than how you drive. In my area, there is a lot of limestone rock and a lot of new construction - meaning - many dump trucks drive our interstates and other highways everyday spreading small (and large) rocks along the road. Vehicles driving 70-80 mph are going to kick up those rocks which will bounce for hundreds of feet behind. Accordingly, any low riding vehicle around here is going to show a decent number of rock chips. It's inevitable and I've had to learn to enjoy my cars regardless. I have full PPF but just today I was hit by several large rocks kicked up by a truck and have some fresh gouges to show for it.

im getting my wheels fixed now, some nor dings and paint touch ups. Im thinking I might Add some PPF on the white areas on the wheels. I have the film, I just wish i had a lift as it wwill kill me to be that low for a long time. I was thinking about Freehanding the cuts, maybe even using some knife tape, but does any one have a CAD /pdf file for the car and wheels. this is the file that wrap guys use to do the precuts. I have a rather large printer and if we can get the file I can pre cut the wheel panels.
