Rumbling when idle

My wife commented that sometimes when she is waiting to pick me up at the train the car seems to “rev the engine.” No engine so I’m not sure what she is talking about.

well, this morning I was sitting in the Starbucks parking lot with the car on and suddenly it sounds like a motor kicks on in a couple of bursts and shuts off.

Anyone experience this before? I’m wondering if it has to do with the climate system. Im going to do some more experimenting.

I know what you’re referring to. It’s not the motor, it’s something either climate or electrical system related. Sounds like something powering up, cycling and then shutting off.

I have a different rumbling, mine is a slight rumbling between 38mph(60kmph)&45mph(70kmph) , which vanishes when i accelerate past 45mph. The rumbling is only noticeable in the steering wheel and front seat of the car when the accelerator is pressed(consuming HV battery power). It’s definitely not the heat pump or any other auxiliary pump(AC).
would be good to know if this is normal as it will save me a trip to the dealer.
