there's a few of us on this thread who are on sal sac through Zenith or Lex autolease direct.

the wait times seem to be around ~18 months for lease orders. I ordered in October 2022 and been told to expect delivery Feb/March 2024.

Which dealer has your order been placed with? a lot of the lease orders seem to go to Prosche (at least for the Zenith and Lex orders I've seen). If Cambridge had a majority of the lease orders, you could envisage that adding to the backlog!

I'm 3 months in on my wait and reading this forum regularly doesn't help ease the anticipation!

I've just had a look on the Lex wait times page and its showing March 2024 dates

Screenshot 2023-01-14 at 21.40.39.png
I ordered in Feb 22 and been told a Nov 23 delivery date is estimated - ordered thru Lex.

I saw the Lex site had been updated with the March 24 lead time - I questioned with them how the lead time has "decreased" compared to the window I had been given - they declined to answer the question....

The wait continues - however, being an optimist, I'm now hopefully over halfway through my wait

New here so thanks for having me!

I’ve just ordered Taycan 4S with Octopus Electric Cars (OEV) via my employers salary sacrifice scheme.

I’m hoping for a 4S in gentian blue, beige leather with the 21 inch RS spyder alloys.

Its a good deal mainly due to tax breaks of the salary sacrifice scheme which reduces monthly payments by about 50% (fluctuating depending on income) but also because I do not need to pay a deposit and the inclusion of insurance, servicing, tax, home charger and damage cover.

All great but OEV have said it’s a 2 year wait - this feels completely out of line with other sources?

Does anyone else on here have experience of using salary sacrifice schemes, are you experiencing similar lead times? OEV have also said I can’t speak directly with the dealer and all comms should be with them.

Any help or similar experiences greatly received!
Got mine with Octopus Jan 22. I know they quote 2 years wait now. I actually collected mine from Porsche Portsmouth. What will be interesting is what the BiK company car tax rate will be. It is inevitably going up from 2% since Hunt announced EV car tax increases in 2025. For me if BiK goes up to 10%+ it no longer saves tax and becomes an incremental cost. Something to consider...

I may be wrong on this, but I think I read that the BIK rate is likely to increase 1% every year from 2025 - so its 2% for 23, 24 & 25, then increases apply after that

There's increasing numbers of cancellations so you will be bumped. I ordered the same time as you, but direct.

I got the email (dealer did not call...) yesterday to say an allocation had come up. I was even expecting it. Had to confirm by COP, and delivery in April.

Sadly had to decline as I won't be in the UK for months, starting from April of course! No point taking early delivery when I'm not even using the car and it's instead locked up in a warehouse.

They can do anything they want!
The BIK is still tiny. It isn't charged on the total value of the car, it's charged at the BIK amount, but you pay the equivalent income tax percentage of the BIK.

e..g. co car costs £125k.

BIK at 2% = £2,500 where car is available to you all year

Actual tax liability you must pay:

Lower rate taxpayer 20% = £500

Higher rate taxpayer 40% = £1,000

If it did ever get near 10%, and I don't think it will until end of this decade, then as a higher rate taxpayer, you'd pay £5,000.

That is a lot, but then you could just take some options off the car or speak to your accountant to understand if there's ways to make the car "unavailable" to you for a couple of months a year.

Aw man, I'd have been more than happy to "look after it" for you!! I do a great job of keeping my cars nice and clean and never take them above 30mph....

I guess we'll see - I'm not overly optimistic based on previous comms. I spoke with the dealer just before Xmas and was told the same line around no expectations of GTS ST builds until Q4 2023. I've now accepted that whatever will be, will be!

Anyway - good luck with the move away from the UK for a bit - hope it all pans out for you

Ha I had friends who offered to "look after it" ?

Was painful to turn it down, but ultimately a sensible decision. The dealer didn't provide that many details, but it seemed as though it was a cancellation owing to the urgency I had to provide a decision and get my spec locked in.

So be patient and you'll no doubt have some exciting news before your estimated dates.

I spend quite a bit of time outside the UK so it's all quite a seamless process for me. Just means I have to make some sacrifices, such as turning down a GTS ST allocation ?‍♂?

I'll make the most of things abroad driving that rented Toyota Yaris.

Thanks, good point!

When did you place the order with OEV and how did you find the comms?

Ordered Aug 21 delivery 7/1/22. And the world went to shit and waiting list jumped to a year then longer as 22 progressed. I was chatting to Octopus sales staff late last year and they were quoting 2 years. It is what it is. I thought the Octopus ? staff were pretty good. A lot of contact. But over 2 years it might go quiet. I just think with an inevitable Labour gov in 2025 they are going to increase the BiK on EVs. I would. It is stupidly low. Do we help low income families and earners or continue to subsidize higher earners so they can buy an EV half price? That's why Hunt said he would raise EV tax in 2025. He didn't explicitly mention BiK in the budget but I think it is going up to 10% quicker than we realise.

And potentially limiting how much can be written off against corp tax.

Perhaps limited to £50k, which would cover most cars intended for general commuting/business use - ruling out luxury or premium sports cars.
