Reflecting on my experiences so far with the car, still very happy and excited to see it in my driveway. Mine was purchased directly from the dealer as a stock car, so no choices in the specification, but then at least I have had the car and not had to worry about delivery delays and missing parts!
What has been good?
1. Car still looks stunning and very different to other vehicles. I have seen a few others on the road (white, black, grey, Gentian blue, silver and one other Crayon) but not many.
2. Performance still incredible: makes exiting junctions and overtaking ridiculously easy - now I am caught out when driving my wife's ICE and the acceleration is so much slower - you really need to 're-set' your expectations when driving a 'normal' car
3. Interior still a really nice place to be with lovely displays, comfortable seats (I have 18 way) and beautiful interior lighting
4. Very happy with the 21" Taycan Exclusive wheels in black - look great and I think ride, comfort and handling just fine with these rims. I thought at first they would be too much but was happy to compromise because of the aesthetics - really did not like look of any of the 20" rims for Taycan.
5. Rear traffic alert (for some reason only comes with park assist) - has saved my bacon a few times when reversing what is a large, low-set car with poor rear vision.
6. Iluminated, black door sills - I had these fitted from new and notice them every time - look so much better than the original, non-illuminated silver ones
What could be improved
1. Software - generally a glitch once a week, thankfully nothing major as some have reported but definitely a 'stone in your shoe'. Would rather have fewer features and a more stable system.
2. No inductive phone charging - in an electric car in 2021? How is this not possible in Australia when available in US?
3. Soft-close doors - I do miss these and would love a Porsche engineered solution.
4. Boot close mechanism - really sensitive to even an empty paper bag that is 1mm proud of the boot lid.
5. Body work protection - picked up some stone chips on front bumper and bonnet just with standard city driving. The shape of the car and its height I think a factor so really need to option the factory Porsche foil (perhaps an admission from Porsche that it really is a problem) or go for aftermarket (at least front) wrap from new. I learnt the hard way....
Must have options?
In reality there are none, if truth be told, but I would still spec
1. PB+
2. Pano roof
3. 21" wheels
4. Two tone leather
5. 18 way seats
6. Black window surround
7. Adaptive interior lighting
What would I not order?
1. Passenger display - never used
2. 4 zone climate - never used
3. Electric Sport sound - never used
All the cars seems to have PS+ and window grey tint, so maybe they should be 'standard'? Have never seen or driven one without.
What would I like to have?
1. Burmester - Bose is good, just not that good (but I do have a very good home hifi, so maybe just too fussy)
2. RWS - I am sure I would not notice on the road but some extra help with the multiple tight parking spots I have to use would be appreciated
3. HomeLink - should be standard
4. Noise insulated glass - already quiet but can never be too quiet!
