I have never set up any programming on the EVSE…only the car. The EVSE is always available and the car pulls power when needed. Seems to work without issue.
That's what confuses me...the EVSE is dumb and only the car has the timer running!

I believe this is the optimal setup….despite the fact that most EVSEs are set up to be smart.

Hi all
May be a stupid question but dont know where im going wrong.

  • I have a Project EV home wallbox
  • Taycan 2022 model
  • Set a home timer for 26/11/23 to get to 85% for 1030am
  • Plugged car in and light at port went to blue showing pause. Same on PCM screen
  • Awoke 26/11/23 and the car had thrown an error and stopped charging at 1258am as per the screenshot
  • This has happened previous. Generally i charge at work so this is new territory for me
  • Disabled the timer, Disconnected the cable, reattched and started charging immediately
I don't have any programs set on the project EV wallbox
Any help appreciated!

I appreciate your post is a couple of years old but I was wondering if you were able to resolve this issue? I have the same car/home charger combination and have encountered the same problem. I gather the Project EV has a default setting that means in plug and charge mode the charger times out if the car doesn’t attempt to pull a charge within 30 min of being plugged in. Were you able to override it to did you have a work around?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I am not on an intelligent tariff just a cheap overnight rate. I want to charge at night to 85% but because the PCM works backwards to define the time the charging starts my Project EV box (in plug and charge mode) times out before the car starts requesting charge. This seems to be the issue you originally posted on this thread which is why I was wondering if you ever resolved it.

The solution before I got the Intelligent tariff was to make the charger ONLY able to charge between 2330-0530 by limiting the window it could send a charge? Would that help? Only problem is it might not make it to 85% because not enough time within that window
