Hi folks. I never drive the car in sport plus but…
Do I remember in Jen 1.1 I could select sport plus using the driving modes?
Why I can only select sport in Jen 1.2 and select sport plus only from the infotainment screen?
Is that normal behaviour?

Good, that shows I didn’t drink too much today…
No sport plus selector in Jen 1.2?

That make sense. I had the chrono pack in jen 1.1, not in Jen 1.2.

Without sport chrono there's no real sport plus as drive mode, only sport ... and you can indeed select "sport plus" as chassis-setting (as if sport isn't firm enough LOL)

No clue what else would be different between sport and sport plus ... probably also has sport sound on by default in that mode if you have it.

I am quite confused.
what does the chrono pack do?
the launch control is available as it is the sport plus. Compared to sport, sport plus stiffen the suspension but steering stay the same.

Sport Plus makes the car maximum-responsive. Also the battery is actively heated or cooled towards the optimum temperature window for maximum output. That can result in shutting off A/C in the cabin for the benefit of cooling the battery.

fun-fact: while D/C charging with the car ON, Sport Plus will bring up charging speed in most conditions.
Cooling fans can become quite loud...

Normal confusion as Taycan does not require SportsChrono to have Launch Control.

Therefore:

- You have Launch control even though you did not option Sports Chrono
- You do not have Sports Plus Drive Mode as you did not option Sports Chrono
- J1.2 Came with the Wheel dial standard but you cannot dial Sports Plus Drive Mode on it as you did not option Sports Chrono
- J1.2 Made Air Suspension standard so all you can do and only in PCM is select Sports Plus Chassis setting but it is not a Drive Mode

I hope this makes sense, however, if you would have optioned Sports Chrono then you would have:

+ Sports Plus Drive Mode
+ Dial Sports Plus Drive Mode via Wheel Dial and from PCM

Difference between Drive Mode and Chassis setting

There is a lot of differences between Sport and Sport Drive modes with a table in the manual.

I think I found it
so all the "chassis" things, you can still have by selecting sport plus as chassis setting, even without sport chrono.

so basically you miss out on responsiveness, extra cooling, rear spoiler going higher and different eSound (or maybe just a little bit louder).

You can probably enable it via PIWIS; it is just different software tuning for the same hardware - assuming you have all the hardware for PTV, pasm, pdcc etc

Normal confusion as Taycan is different in a way that it is the only model that does not require SportsChrono to have Launch Control.
Many ICE Porsche with PDK gearbox have a launch control in sport mode, even without the Sport+ mode. My previous Porsche had it without having the Sport Chrono Package ;)
Just having the engine at nominal tempereture, sport mode, full brake, full accel, release brakes. It would not show the launch message; but it would also not have the car fight against its brakes.

Therefore:
- You have Launch control even though you did not option Sports Chrono
- You do not have Sports Plus Drive Mode as you did not option Sports Chrono
- J1.2 Came with the Wheel dial standard but you cannot dial Sports Plus Drive Mode on it as you did not option Sports Chrono

...

Thank you for bringing this up, I was incorrect that Taycan is the "only one" and I made the edit to remove that claim.
