there's a chance when they lift the windshield or the roof, they can damage the other, bc the two panels of glass join at a seam. Might as well lift both out at the same time.

Correct. The windshield usually breaks when removing the roof and in my case the rear window also broke.

Absolutely not!

Insurance covered most of it but there was an impasse between what Porsche wanted to charge and what they were willing to pay.

I ended up paying a few grand out of pocket to break that impasse and get my car back. I was out of it for over a month as I recall and I was fed up with the bullshit.
