Hi team,
I have been enjoying the ownership of my new-to-me Taycan CT since last October. As this is my first BEV, little by little, I am trying to familiarise myself with all the idiosyncrasies of this type of car. Some may find the discovery & familiarisation process frustrating. I do find it exciting, I am that weird
Anyway, cutting to the chase here: I am a cheapskate. Due to that, I am doing my best to find the cheapest way to charge at a given operator within CH, when this is required.
Currently, I am subscribed to the free tier of the Porsche Charging Service. Within this tier, there's no concept of preferred operator, and according to Porsche, the price list is defined as:
This weekend, I was able to charge two times in two different Ionity stations, and in both I got charged CHF 0.68/kWh. Also, I was able to charge in a small 2-stall DC station in FR, and I also got charged CHF 0.68/kWh.
So do you know why the source for this discrepancy? Have you observed this before? I won't complain for it being cheaper than expected... I am just genuinely curious about whether I am missing something here.
In any case, the main reason for this post is to ask you whether you can give recommendations based on experience, where charging with the operator's specific app (using their free tier) is cheaper than charging with the Porsche card. For example, Ionity is currently charging CHF 0.76/kWh, which is more expensive than the CHF 0.68/kWh I get via the Porsche Charging Service. With Fastned it's a similar story, as their free tier costs CHF 0.73/kWh.
With Gofast, however, I found that using the Swisscharge app, I got charged CHF 0.59/kWh in the service station in the Wallensee. So in this case, the Porsche Charging Service would be more expensive.
What are your recommendations?
