He didn't start Tesla and the fact that the share price values it above the companies you mention just goes to prove how very twisted and broken the stock market system is. It is about gambling and fashion not business.
He didn’t start Tesla, but he does deserve a ton of credit for making EVs desirable to the masses. Sadly the fact that Elon has pivoted from boy genius to right wing extremist/conspiracy monger/oligarchy supporter #1 is one of the main reasons I am no longer enthralled with the mostly mind blowingly amazing Plaid S. Okay also I hate some moves like turn stalk elimination. Surprisingly don’t hate the swipe to forward/reverse concept though did once (noisy kids in car) THINK I’d engaged forward after braking and was a bit shocked when throttle had it go backwards again … probably what, apart from alcohol, killed Angela Chao as she accidentally backed her model X into the lake on her property, drowning.

I just traded my Plaid for a Taycan GTS. In case there are others contemplating a switch, I wanted to give you my initial impressions.

1. What I miss from the Plaid: neck jerking acceleration with just a touch to the accelerator. Super simple configuration software with every choice no more than one level down. Big screen for NAV that shows next turn plus all others enroute to destination. 400+ miles of range (just a little). Lots of front seat storage in multiple cubbies.

2. What I love about the Taycan: The seats. They cradle you like a baby. The leather (every square inch of it). The looks. The way it corners. The feel I have for the car in curves. Apple Car Play. I am using it for Nav, phone, text and Pandora. Having a real turn signal and gear selector! A real service center with people who will talk to you. Salesmen that feel empowered to actually negotiate a price. Not having to wince every time Elon Musk says something stupid and explain it to everyone who sees me in the Plaid. A real user manual you can hold and search with your fingers.

Bottom line. After three Model S's, I'm moving on. The Porsche is a driver's car. It won't be my last as they continue to improve their EV's. I have a lot to learn about the software and controls in the car. Getting up and running (basic configuration, charging, phone, Nav etc) took about an hour. I am at peace with my decision.

Certainly Porsche is a driver's car.
Except they are way behind the software. The car you buy today will be obsolete within the month. There's no over the air updates. Of course Porsche can give you all the excuses saying that safety!

Porsche simply does not know how to implement software. Perhaps they should hire some Bay area software guys - HINT! H1B guys!

The 2020 Tesla model S motor performance, can accommodate the latest software on full self drive.
Every time the car gets a new update. You feel that it is a brand-new car when you can experiment and try things out.

With the yoke. It is definitely a state-of-the-art car.

On the other hand, the Porsche Innovo Drive is one of the worst.
I purchased the self remote parking feature and none of the sales folks will be able to demonstrate.

Tesla has become common car, with many folks driving the Model 3 and Y's, yet Porsche is not.
Technology wise Porsche is way behind Tesla when it comes to software and electronics.

Having said that, I will keep my Cherry Red Taycan GTS and I love it.

I'm trying to convince my wife to trade in her Ludicurious Blue Tesla S for a Ultra Red Plaid S. With unlimited lifetime charging and free FSD one cannot complain. Consider the network of Tesla superchargers throughout the country/world.

When will Porsche Innovo Drive become safe. It is simply turns off auto Lane keep without even a warning sound.

Is this safety?

Having owned a 2022 Taycan RWD and still do own a model S 100D I agree with most of the comment here.

Taycan is a car which happens to be an EV, almost a bit of an afterthought. Certainly the UI/UX in the car and app are so bad, it’s really not acceptable.

Model S is on the other hand is a computer with a car build around it. It rattles everywhere, but I have to say : after almost 300.000 km it still drives as day 1…

The taycan wasnt without fault, I had to drive 3-4 months with a malfunctioning instrument cluster and in the trunk there was a rattle that never got completely fixed. CarPlay, native spotify worked half the time.. abysmal experience.

At 200kph I got a high pitched noise caused by wind noise

The seating postition ( standard Seats ) was really bad for me, maybe different with the 18-ways ?

I placed an order for the “new” plaid but after reading several owners complaining about high degradation in their plaids ( up to 20% after only 40-50.000 km) I might cancel and get a Macan EV. But I don’t know if I can live with Porsches lack of understanding how to make good software.

also there are more hard plastics in the Macan/Taycan than in de model S…

model S also felt like a more nimble car compared to Taycan.

I also like the throttle mapping of the model S more..

I don’t like the attention you get in a Porsche.
