I just traded my Plaid for a Taycan GTS. In case there are others contemplating a switch, I wanted to give you my initial impressions.

1. What I miss from the Plaid: neck jerking acceleration with just a touch to the accelerator. Super simple configuration software with every choice no more than one level down. Big screen for NAV that shows next turn plus all others enroute to destination. 400+ miles of range (just a little). Lots of front seat storage in multiple cubbies.

2. What I love about the Taycan: The seats. They cradle you like a baby. The leather (every square inch of it). The looks. The way it corners. The feel I have for the car in curves. Apple Car Play. I am using it for Nav, phone, text and Pandora. Having a real turn signal and gear selector! A real service center with people who will talk to you. Salesmen that feel empowered to actually negotiate a price. Not having to wince every time Elon Musk says something stupid and explain it to everyone who sees me in the Plaid. A real user manual you can hold and search with your fingers.

Bottom line. After three Model S's, I'm moving on. The Porsche is a driver's car. It won't be my last as they continue to improve their EV's. I have a lot to learn about the software and controls in the car. Getting up and running (basic configuration, charging, phone, Nav etc) took about an hour. I am at peace with my decision.

That's how I feel about it. It's like moving from a second-hand shifter kart that's fast as hell but feels like parts are going to fly off at any second to, well, a Porsche, which feels like a real car.

The differential in neck-jerking acceleration is boring after awhile and irksome to everyone but the driver. You'll find after time that the Taycan is more than fast enough, and the speed is delivered to a chassis and in a manner that can actually be used and fully enjoyed.

The plaid to Taycan comparison hasn't been covered much on this forum (that I've seen). Thanks for your thoughts.
A good friend of mine has a plaid and I have driven it. My summary was "2 cars that are exactly the same, only totally different."
After we chased each through the mountains like a couple 16yo that just got their license, he didn't want to give me my car back.
Easy to be at peace when your car looks that good?

It's easy to look like a spectical with just the RWD. If my Tesla stock ever goes to the moon like the bulls say it will there will be a GTS in my garage too.

There are tuners who can give your GTS quite a bit more power, and optionally these same tuners can change the throttle response from Porsche subtle and controllable to Tesla-style video game on-off. But don't do the latter, please. It's part of what makes the Taycan so good to drive.

I don't plan on making any changes to the stock car. I love it as is. In the Plaid, I felt like a water skier being pulled along by a speedboat without much control. In the GTS, I AM the car.

While the Taycan GTS is great! The latest FSD (full self drive) from Tesla is definitely far superior to Porsche. The GTS definitely has better hardware to accomplish what Tesla has done with its camera only solution.

We have the model S with the ludicrous plus and the 2022 cherry-red Taycan GTS

I will say Tesla software is the industry leader by a wide margin. IMO
In what way?
Does their steering software give a better feel, or their air suspension a better ride/body control/handling combination than the Taycan?

I am pretty impressed by the software on my CT4S, I have torque vectoring, active anti roll bars, rear wheel steering and I think the stability over-ride is pretty well programmed too.

I don’t find the sat nav problematic, the charging software is a bit eccentric but easy enough to use once you have twigged what it is doing.

Overall I have been pretty impressed by the car software on my Taycan.

I know everyone is going to talk about that the Porsche is a driver's car.

Inovo Drive from Porsche is no comparison to FSD (full self drive) from Tesla.
Definitely the Silicon Valley software is far superior to in inovo drive.

Perhaps Porsche should hire or set up a neural network based technology R&D center from Silicon Valley.

Definitely the Silicon Valley software is far superior to in innovo overdrive.

Perhaps Porsche should hire or set up a neural network based technology center in California.

Porsche and Tesla are among the industry leaders in customer loyalty, which says quite a bit about both companies' vehicles.

I agree with the sentiment about Tesla's FSD. But I really wouldn't buy a Porsche if I wanted the software to drive it. I want to BE the car.

I am a nervous passenger even of a competent driver, the idea of ever using so called self driving where I have to sit there hovering over the controls in case I had to take over would treble my blood pressure and I would never use such a horrific thing if I had it.
I don’t even like adaptive cruise control on any car I’ve tried it on, it gets it wrong far more often than right and gives slower that acceptable progress.
