So had my Taycan for coming up to two years now, live in a flat with no possibility of home charging however I sometimes visit people/places where I could home charge. Looking at the mobile charger instructions it’s only set up to install on a wall and says to never use an extension cord. My questions are I’ve read a 13amp extension cable with safety cut out would be ok. Also Porsche say to never leave the mobile charger on the floor, really? Anyone who knows the best way for me to occasionally charge the car using a normal U.K. plug (for which I would need an extension) I’d be most grateful to hear!

so far in almost 2 years never had any issues charging at the usual chargers on the road but got a little caught out in deepest Cornwal so would like an ‘insurance policy’. Many thanks to anyone who can reply!

Where does it say never to leave the charger on the floor? I'm sure I've seen photos in the manual/Porsche site of it on the floor :)

I wouldn't leave it out where it might get a soaking or get kicked etc. But I wouldn't worry unduly about having it on the floor. (I had mine on the floor a couple of times without issue).

Best bet for the "extension lead" challenge would be to get a longer cable for the charger itself. I think you can get 10m ones.

Not sure I'd bother at all with 3-pin charging though. It takes a good 8-9hrs on a 32A connection to fill up. Unless you're leaving your car parked up for ages, you're not going to get much distance added in any meaningful timeframe :)

I think you'll be fine using an extension lead, @Murph7355, though with a few precautions: make sure it's fully unwound (13A running round a tight coil will create heat and a strong magnetic field), protect it from people tripping over it (NEVER across a public path/road) and ensure the plug/socket is fully protected from rain; the Porsche charger itself is waterproof.
