The usual suspects always seem to be lurking on the invoice:
  1. Registration Fees - Depends on State
  2. Doc Fee's - Depends on Dealer
  3. Nitrogen - As much as they can get. I paid $199 in May '21.

Do test drive the RWD and other models first. I have a GTS, and the loaner RWD I used for the last 3 weeks was noticeably noisier than my GTS. it wasn’t just because of the thermal/acoustic glass I had opted for. There was more gear and motor noise coming through the floor.

Nitrogen - for the tyres (tires)?
Nitrogen is only 7 on the periodic table versus oxygen at 8, so it reduces unsprung weight and therefore increases performance. Not being flammable, it also reduces risk of fire as tires get hot during a track session and is an absolute requirement for any sporting car. :CWL:

it sounds like you are contemplating importing your car from Germany. If this is the case, I would discourage you from doing this because, quite apart from all the import issues involved in getting a Euro-spec car into the US, you will be on your own when service or repair is needed. I don’t think Porsche dealers will work on a parallel-import car. Perhaps someone else who has done this can give you advice.

My opinion is that if you have to worry about budget on a Porsche, then it is better not to buy one since the ongoing costs of ownership are high.

I’ve driven other EVs like the Bolt, and think that if it is an EV you want, you don’t have to buy a Taycan. The Bolt was a decent car, and the HyundaI and Kia EVs are even better. Sure, they don’t have the looks or sheer fun of a Taycan, but then they also don’t have the costs involved.

I think most people in the US work through dealers in the US, because there is a very long and detailed delivery process that takes place. You can't just put the car on a ship without preparing it first, then doing other stuff on arrival. For example, the high voltage battery needs to be put into certain state of charge (might even be disconnected) prior to shipping, or it becomes a fire hazard.

If you want to buy in Germany, you will get a Euro-spec car that probably cannot be shipped to the US. If you want delivery in the US, you probably need to find a dealer to work with. All the questions you are asking the forum should be asked at a dealership. It would be nice to buy direct, like Tesla, but Porsche is not Tesla.

And it will have a CCS type 2 plug. I think the US version has a different one.

I have a RWD ST and I have no noise. I’ve also had a 4S as loaner and I didn’t notice any difference in the noise. Maybe your loaner had some issues…

Could be. It certainly felt like it was put together in a rush. Even the service writer thought so.
