Go to the best repair shop you can find and let them examine the car. Based on the lack of airbag deployment, it is unlikely the frame is twisted. Should it be however, and if it is beyond the Porsche "repairable" spec, then you are toast (care totaled). When I was hit by another car in the front I was pushed to the curb (airbags did deploy), and the frame was twisted beyond the repairable spec.

The repair process is itself interesting. Basically they remove all damaged/broken parts until they get down to parts that are not damaged at all. This includes the front bumper, hood, lights, cooling systems (exist behind the bumper), etc. When mine was taken apart and fully diagnosed the final cost to repair was $96k USD, but that included some frame repair, and was 2+ years ago. Besides the body, there are a lot of hoses and such behind that bumper.

Wow that’s hard to read man. Sorry for your loss. Hopefully my car isn’t totalled.

I guess gap insurance is becoming more necessary. I’d never bothered before this car, but kind of glad I have it now.

I realise this may be a bit ‘closing the door after the horse has bolted’ for you.

I am not at all familiar with gap insurance. I don't believe something like that exists in the Netherlands either.

It's bizarre that Taycan's values have plummeted so much. It remains an amazing car, but people still prefer a 911 in the Netherlands. After a number of 911s (992) including GT3, I was ready for an electric Porsche. By far the best Porsche I've owned. For me, the 911 actually stopped after the 993 and I think a Taycan is more special than a 992, but unfortunately I am in the minority. I'll have to ride this one until the end of time, so hopefully they are able to fix the car.

Its gonna be fine, my Panamera was rear ended and while only the bumper looked damaged, there were many little parts broken under the bumper, total bill 5k euro, yours might cost 15k to fix.

Agree Taycan is amazing car and drives better than 911 or Panamera.

or going too fast while maintaining a improper distance from the front car.

We've all been there in some form or another.

Hope a lesson was learned and no one was hurt here.

Please drive safe everyone. This could have been a lot worse.

Someone changed lanes that I saw too late (my fault). The speed difference was less than 30 km/h. My previous 911 stopped a lot faster than the Taycan, despite the ceramic brakes. That's what I meant about the weight of the Taycan.

Total amount of damage is 42K euro’s btw

Maybe regen braking played a role too?

If you have a loan on the car, or if you are leasing, the amount owed to the holder of the loan (or the leasor) may at times be more than the depreciated market value of the car. So now assume you have an accident where the car is totaled. In that case you might get reimbursed for less than the amount owed to the lender. In that case Gap Insurance picks up the difference.

In many States in the US, Gap Insurance is mandatory on all leases.

If that's enough to write off a (bloody expensive) car, i'm going to stop buying cars!
I thought you were going to say you're starting a business repairing salvaged Taycans (buy totaled ones cheap, combine parts, sell for profit). :CWL:

Taycan is a great everyday Porsche with sporty performance. When I was selling my 911 years ago, I remember saying "if I ever buy a 911 again, it will be exclusively for track use". 911 as a daily driver was not that practical (used as a daily driver for over 2 years) and it required me to keep a Toyota 4Runner as a second car, and that was before I started a family. Today I am limited by family parking situation, so I must consolidate to a single car at home - Taycan CT fits the bill perfectly (it replaces Model S'es which I drove for a decade prior).

Well, if it is totalled I’m happy to show a cheeky bid for the wheels as thinking of getting some for winter tyres!
