That 2% does not mean there is 2% with failed batteries, it means there is over some period of time 2% of cars where battery was not fixed in the past and is about to fail.
The 2% yes. But the other 2.1% (CRITICAL) means those batteries were critical in a dangerous state and the car should not be driven in that condition for the risk of fire / electrocution

This 2.1% is the dangerous one, and it's related to the bug I've been moaning about since late 2022 where the BMS lets the car drive with dangerous isolation.... this has not been fixed ARB6/ARB7 software update.

Those same conditions still remain in place that when met cause the BMS to oversee poor isolation!

Agreed, just some people are already assuming that only 2% taycans have battery problems based on this info.

This is very much not the case. The 2% are the ones that have a problem, but not detected by monitoring. On all the other problematic ones the failure was detected and modules were replaced.

So we don't know based from this how many J1.1 have had battery failures, but for sure it's much more than 2% when we have 2% running around with critical batteries undetected.

I wonder what selection/sampling bias is in the data set. It's probably not a smooth cross-section of cars, like if you had a checkpoint and tested all Taycans on the road.

People running the software are probably either data nerds (hi!) and enthusiasts that want their car to be perfect, OR, self-help DIY types trying to solve a problem -- get more data to make a battery warranty case, confirm suspicions about range, etc.

So, the tool might have some data bias toward problematic cars. That's my guess, anyway.

I think it's incredibly insightful, both the data and the tool. If I was Carmax or any private buyer, it would be an "of course' part of buyer inspection. I check mine from time to time and feel great knowing nothing is amiss and we're still all-green. Thank you!

I take a reading of every Taycan that comes to my shop (over 300 VINs) whether battery related or mere 10,000km service or software update service etc... This should be much more in line with what you could randomly find on the road.

Very soon I will merge this over 300 VINs with what was publicly read by users for statistics matters and we will see how the stats change if at all!

Would be interesting to see the comparison between the two I think. Sample from forum members and then sample from your workshop.

You've got 300+ Taycans in your area? Or are the visits from the same Taycan, returning 300 times for the same problem? ;)

@ct14garage double checking again. Is this really 1000 kOhm?? Most reports I’ve seen here are 8-10kohm range for IsoRes Battery+.
