If it's any consolation I was driving my wife's Mini EV (2024 one so the newest version) the other night and the entire computer shut down. Black screen, black HUD, car still working but I had no speedo, no regenerative braking (so had to pound harder than expected to slow down), nothing. Thankfully steering, accelerator and brakes and lights still worked enough to pull over and turn off/on again. Very disconcerting when driving through a pitch-black country lane and suddenly the car interior goes pitch black too.

We have other issues with it too - memory stick randomly disconnects mid-playback, centre screen slow to load sometimes, currently getting "emergency call system failure" beep and pop up every 5 mins while driving, "electrical management system error" comes up every time we finish charging. Mini are no more helpful than Porsche.

The critical difference is that despite being the top JCW edition that car was "only" £42k. My point being it's hugely annoying but the Taycan is equally frustrating with a price tag 3x higher.

And Taycan almost killed me when PCM crashed mid drive to logo screen and disengaged / disabled inno drive.
I don't think Innodrive will disengage if PCM crashes. It will disengage without much fanfare in different situations, which is why you're supposed to have your hands on the wheel at all times. Tesla approach is FSD drives while the driver helps. Porsche's approach is the driver drives while the car attempts to help.
I mean, Taycans have their fair share of frosted windows issue due to failing heaters.
So if it were a software bug rather than a hardware one, maybe I wouldn’t even be as mad
I've had heater die on my Taycan, and yes, defogging dies but it was different than the Tesla software bug I encountered with Tesla - it was instant icing on the inside, unable to wipe it with my hand. Didn't help that that the UI was indicating max heat, so I didn't turn it off.

There are several functions under connect sub… but what about charging subscription: it was about 25€ month if you wanted lower price per kwh at superfast charging stations 🤯
Few months ago, they lowered down to 15€, but still 🤦🏻‍♂️
I hardly saved anything over 3 years with the charging service since 99% of the time I charge at home.
Mind you it may well be I will lose by link to my home electricity supplier if I cancel the connect service :(
I may have to give in and pay, though it may cost almost as much as the home charge saves per month.

Understood.
I was using commercial charging stations only last year… so i was paying monthly subscript.
It was free for the first 3 years when i didn’t need it at all 🤷‍♂️
Now, i got 3-phase in my summer house, i don;t need Ionity anymore even i have free subscription again…

Had mine for 18 months or so, 12-13K miles, and no issues other than a pothole induced blowout.

I don’t really use the PCM much as most of time I’m using CarPlay.

No car is perfect, but after dozens of Bimmers and Audis in the past, this being my second P car, I have to agree with those who prefer Porsche. The overall quality of the ride and the joy of driving it is better than anything I’ve had before it. Software isn’t their best feature no doubt, and I don’t really care about that. I like that the screen is small and I’m more focused on driving as a result.

But look, to each their own, and if you guys don’t like it or have had a car with lots of troubles I completely understand and I would likely feel let down also. Clearly we all have the very best automotive options if we are on this message board talking about our Taycans so go find something you love.

Don't buy/own German cars for their software or you'll be disappointed. They are automotive companies first unlike Tesla, Lucid, Rivian etc.

Lucid is a heck of a lot more adept at making a car than it is with software! Their cars are masterclass in packaging and chassis dynamics. Their software is shyte.
