OK, so today I checked my tire pressure and set it to what is stamped on the factory label on the door sill. I have the original equipped tires, which are the size and type that's listed on the label. I used a very accurate tire gauge and set the pressure. Then I selected the Tire pressure difference display in the dash and it said my tires were over inflated by several pounds on each tire. I then double checked the settings making sure I had the correct tire selected. Why would there be such a difference? What good is this reading if it's off by so much? Any thoughts? Am I doing something wrong? By the way the tires were cold.

Set it using the PCM. The PCM will have you enter tire size, season, load, etc. and then give you the correct pressures and also store them in the system.

I had an almost identical thread about a year ago. After a lot of investigation, I came to the conclusion that the car's tire pressure readings just are not as good as high quality gauges.

If you switch the tire dimension back and forth, PCM takes the "original" data.
Than it should show correct again.
I´d like to add, if you have 21": consider going around 0.2 Bar above recommendation on the front. The front tires tend to wear quickly (and invisible) on the inside.
Overinflating puts more pressure towards the center, thus taking force away from the sides.

Thanks for the info, I'll try that.

I guess I did a poor job of explaining that I did check the PCM for the correct tire information. It's set to the same as what's on the door sill sticker. The car still reads +4 psi off.

Sounds like your car is set to "Partial Load" instead of "Full Load".

I had the same thing happen to me also. My sticker on the door jamb is listing PSI for "Full Load", but the setting got switched to "Partial Load" after a dealer service visit.
