Has anyone had experience driving to Phoenix on I-40? I am planning trip from Colorado Front range in Pueblo area to Phoenix, looking for any comments on EA station experiences along the way. Thanks

I have made that drive 8 times in my Taycan over the past 18 months.

It is a very easy drive, and have never had issues charging in Trinidad, Santa Fe, Albq., Grants, Gallup, or Winslow. Not sure if you have a '20 Taycan, or what cell service you use, but the Wagon Mound stop in northern NM has terrible cell reception, so if you need to activate a charge via your cell it can be tricky. If you have a '21 you will be fine with plug and charge.

If you keep the speeds under control, and if it is not too cold, you can charge in Trinidad, Santa Fe, Gallup, and Winslow and make it to PHX easily.

Cheers.

Excellent, thanks for reply. Will plan on skipping Wagon Mound and charging as recommended. I have 2020 Turbo S, so I need cell service

You will need to charge to near 100% in Trinidad and keep the speed under control to make it to Santa Fe, especially if it is below 40F.

That is the only tricky part of making that drive. Once you hit Santa Fe, there are chargers every 125 to 150 miles all the way to PHX. Once you hit Winslow, you can take the short cut south to intersect with I-17 without having to go through Flagstaff since it is mostly downhill. On your return trip, you will most probably have to go through Flagstaff since there is a lot of elevation gain from the PHX area to get back up to I-40.

Appreciate the heads up. I will definitely drive in range mode most of the way, seems like my car gets around 250 of range. Will definitely fully charge in Trinidad.

Just chiming in to agree that the EA charging from Albuquerque to Colorado Springs, and Albuquerque to Flagstaff have been flawless. Haven't gone south of Flagstaff yet, but I'm looking forward to a few trips that way this winter. It's so nice to thaw out a little during the cold season!
