TSB: AC Charging Not Possible - July 19, 2024

Condition: Customer complains of electrical error after charging or AC charging not possible from either charge socket. Fault codes including C11B849_100002 are saved in the HV Charger (OBC) control unit. The charge port button also lights up red.

Technical Background: An internal communication failure in the onboard charger OBC prevents AC charging from either charge socket.

Service Information: The SW level 1089 in these OBCs has a known issue with causing internal failures in these parts. Parts with a new software level are currently in development and planned to be available as early as the end of June this year. It is recommended to continue replacing the OBC upon discovery of this issue until the new software is available.

Service Information: The SW level 1089 in these OBCs has a known issue with causing internal failures in these parts. A new software level 1093 is available in the PIWIS tester via automatic programming for all 11kW OBC parts as of tester SW release 42.800.030.

Just took my '21 4S to Porsche service for the same issue. Red circle on both ports Level 2 home charging not possible.

Finally, some woe for the 11kW charger! I read the title and assumed it would be the 22kW variant - again! Time for everyone to share the fun.

May be a different issue, but I've got red error on RH port.
Won't AC charge on that side now.

Continuous message when driving of 'charging port impaired'.
Pings non stop - driving me crackers!

Will phone Porsche tomorrow (again)...... Can't believe how often this car is at the dealers with faults and recalls.
So busy I really don't need this right now.
The cars a liability.

Every time I see one of these I get equally surprised on how bad SW in general is handled by legacy automakers. "The software version has a known problem, please replace the part". Same procedure as the door handles where they need to be replaced to change the FW version.
