No way Porsche is going to have an option in the configurator to get that power. There would be nothing setting apart Porsche's famous "turbo" trim level.
Why not? A software defined car. You can buy it cheaper at order time, or later via FOD available at first at a higher price than with original purchase, but lowered over time per depreciation schedule. At some point, subscriptions (monthly, annually, etc) to capture the market of people who can only afford the Turbo S performance when they have a good month at work (salesperson working on commissions perhaps).

This may have to wait for the next generation of customers though, who don’t rage over paying for software because they bought the hardware already capable. Kids nowadays are used to the fact that you buy super capable hardware, like an iPhone, which comes with lidar for example, but to use that lidar you have to pay (to buy an app). Or they buy a gaming console with hardware capable of playing all the games, but they still have to pay for each game to play it, and then for capabilities in the game (capabilities which come in the game but are locked until you pay). That generation will not throw fits over software defined cars.

Looking at a few Turbo and Turbo S one owner 2020 cars. Is it worth the 10K difference to get the TuRBO S?

All other features except for the larger front inverter and badging being identical?

I have a Lucid GT
It’s quicker than the turbo
Had a plaid before that. I think turbo S will scratch the itch just seems 10-14K is the asking price difference ?

Except in Launch mode, Turbo and Turbo S produce the same power. Neither will touch the Plaid.

they certainly won't touch the plaid unless you are in "launch mode" - and then Taycan will still lose - Porsche holding back acceleration performance behind a "mode setting" with an EV is simplly stupid - the _ONLY_ thing I should have to do to get "full acceleration" is:
  • be in Sports Plus
  • mash the accelerator
an unprepared Taycan TurboS owner will lose badly to a Tesla Model Y at a stop light - unless they are sitting there in launch mode - the word "stupid" comes to mind.

Launch Mode definitely unleashes more power, but if in LM, Turbo S is left behind at the lights by S Plaid, unless traction is poor, then the better tires for that surface win.

I don't even think we should have to be in Sport Plus. Simply flooring the accelerator should do it.

I thought about this - I think holding back "full" acceleration behind a "setting" is appropriate so that people are not "surprised" - kinda like "chill" mode in Tesla…

I think having full acceleration in Normal/Sport/Sports Plus could be dangerous and have unintended consequences…

therefore my design proposal is "sports plus" - with Normal/Sport having "less throttle" acceleration as a way of turning the accelerator pedal to situations more appropriate for daily driving.

full acceleration in GTS/Turbo/TurboS is not a thing to be trifled with and honestly most drivers are unprepared (and passengers also)…

my $0.02

Even in "chill" mode, pedal to the metal unleashes it all. Only the <100% throttle is mapped more chill. IMO it makes sense, if the accelerator hits the floor, the driver needs more power, perhaps to perform a safety maneuver.

Side note, Plaid limits the 1000hp full power unless the steering wheel is pointing straight.

It isn't bad. Personally I never unleash even full Sport Mode power from a stop, however, my accelerator does hit the floor when passing/merging on a highways (45-75 range), so I know I could use more power there.

Really wish they would release an upgrade for us to at least have control of that power for 8-10 seconds at a time. I would really like to tune the car but no way am I loosing my warranty.
