I have two questions which maybe a bit obvious, but I would welcome advice.

1) I have a 2024 registered car and the the software seems to have got rid of the PROFILE option on the charger tile. My question is: can I set a time for charging to start, or can I only set a time that the charging will finish? Ideally, I would plug in at say 6pm but it would only charge from midnight to 5am.

2) Is it possible to use CarPlay wirelessly? I can only seem to make this work using a cable.

Thanks in advance.

CarPlay wirelessly. Absolutely.

I think you will need to use timers rather than profile to charge how you would like to. I’ve no doubt that someone on octopus energy will have the best way to do it. I’m on ovo and the ‘cheap’ charging is controlled by ovo with their app which integrates with the Porsche server.

Thanks - will check that out!

Thanks - he makes it look so easy! But when I follow that exactly it says I need to connect with a USB cable (whereupon it works). I thought this might be a on off thing but in fact if disconnect and try again, it is the same. Puzzling ...

It will work, don't worry. There must be one setting blocking it somewhere.
Are Cellular, WiFi, and Bluetooth enabled on the phone?
So were you able to pair your phone with the car on Bluetooth at least?
Does the phone show up in the devices list?
I'm sure you know, but the way CarPlay works is that the phone talks with the car on Bluetooth first and arranges a WiFi connection, then the local WiFi connection starts and you're good.

If you haven’t tried this already, select the Devices app and for your phone select CarPlay

my experience with CarPlay, wireless consumes a lot of the phone’s charge and creates alot of heat in the phone . Wired CarPlay is more reliable and creates minimal heat. Interesting in my wife’s Macan no issues with wireless Carplay creating heat or consuming charge.
Stopped using wireless charging-unreliable, creates too much heat

I don’t have issues with wireless CarPlay but my phone does get hot when charging so I use a cable instead (dealer provided me with a Porsche charging cable with a right angle connector)

I have the same question about charging. Here is my setup:
2024 Taycan Turbo S
Tesla home charger with adapter plug (15KV)
I tried using the timer as well as profiles, but cannot get it to charge at night (between 10 pm and 7 am say) and charge to 80%. It works occasionally, but most of the time the car does not wake up and turn on the charging as needed. It works if I plug it in after 10 PM with the same profiles.

I find CarPlay wireless quite flakey. mostly it works; sometimes it just doesn’t find the phone so i have a USB cable handy

Thanks all for your advice and suggestions. I am now wondering if it is becasue the wifi in the car is not working (when I go to wifi settings it says Function not available). I have emailed my dealer but not yet heard. I THOUGHT it was all set up. Anyway, I may take the advice and just use a cable!

@McB
The whole charging UX is a mess for any EV except a Tesla, but it should work.
What home charger are you using?

From memory:
  1. Home charger - Hypervolt - connected to home wifi.
  2. I set the max charge in the car / Porsche app, eg to 75%.
  3. My home charger is linked to my Octopus energy account. So, the home charger effectively does nothing except supply charge when it's asked to do so by Octopus.
  4. I set the timing schedule in the Octopus app, eg "ready by" 05:30.
  5. I set the Octo app to a max of 99% charge. The car will stop it charging at my chosen value, eg 75%.
  6. Plug in car any time. Octo will "smart schedule" the 7p charge at times they choose and / or between 23:30 to 05:30.
  7. If I need a higher % charge, I do this in the Porsche app, eg to 100%.
  8. I can force a charge to start now using the "Bump charge" option in the Octopus app.
This is a significant reason why many people I know will not buy an EV.

Quick update having heard from dealer re ApplePlay. They suggest a factory reset of the car, leave overnight, then re-pair the phone etc. Problem is, it will wipe out all my other settings, which is a pain. I might just learn to live with it ...

Is your software fully up to date?

The Carplay fix on my 1.1 involved the dealer doing a firmware update when the car was in for one of it's service visits and then deleting the phone connection (in the PCM and phone) and starting again.
No other settings were impacted except for phone related ones.
It worked well after this.

Though Carplay and wireless charging seriously overheated the phone (whilst not actually charging the phone more than a couple of %) and they replaced the wireless charging hardware in a future visit.
Though I have no idea how well this worked because I changed to a 1.2 a few weeks later.
