Taycan 4S sports turismo is due for 2 year service soon(having done 11000 miles). The actual service is coming in at just over £300 (the brake fluid has already been done during a recent recall, so that is why the actual service is a bit less than standard. However Porsche dealer is quoting for this in addition:

Additional Work For Checking Water Drains

Door Sill Check And Clean (Main Work)
Includes Wheel And Rear Wheel Housing
Liner Remove And Reinstall Door Sill Trim
Removal
9 x Bungs

1 £507.98(inc VAT)

The explanation from the dealer is that this 'drain work' is time consuming in the garage, but needs to be done

Any thoughts on this from anybody ?

'Bargain' and no need to shop around - std pricing.

Filters are changed also.

Is the £507 on top of the £300?

If so, unless you've had leaks I would pass on that bit. It's evidently not a mandatory piece of work as not all dealers raise it.

Yes £507 is on top of £300...ie more than the service .

Plenty of previous discussion on here about that.

I haven’t paid for it to be done.

The drainage control is a big "extra" and NOT in the obligatory service program.
It's an individual position, maybe especially necessary for your car.
If not, I would deny it.

I guess it also depends where you live & what type of weather you drive in.
Here in Southern California my Taycan hasn’t seen more than a few days of rain and typically only gets wet once a month when I wash the dust off it.
I’m not concerned with drain cleaning on mine.
I could see this being necessary for vehicles in the Northeast & east coast where salt from the roads in winter gets into everything.

My 20k service was £300.54 without brake fluid as like you it was about to be done with the ARB0 recall. Sytner Solihull said drains would be checked foc but they would charge if any remedial work needed. Talking to the service advisor at Solihull and also a tech at PRG Reading, there are some bungs in the battery cover that need to be clear and then they do a water test in each of the four corners of the roof and look for it flowing out freely in the wheel arch area. You can do the water test yourself with a jug of water and OPC are supposed to offer you the opportunity to inspect the underside on the lift. Reading have always made that offer, Solihull didn't and I was in a hurry so didn't ask. When my current 4S ST was in at Mid-Sussex (also a Sytner dealership) I asked to look at the underside and they were very happy to put it on the lift and I walked under with the tech. That is a long winded way of saying unless you think there is a problem don't pay the extra £500

Check warranty conditions if items are skipped and later there is an issue.

Personally, I'd take the hit and not skimp as you never know when this might come back and haunt you no matter how trivial the step is.

Both PRG and Sytner confirmed it is not part of the standard scope for 20K/2 year service. So I think it would be hard to reject a warranty claim. It seems to me the warranty is used by some OPCs as a way to worry people into spending more money.

Search for "drains" to read 1000 other angry and confused posts from 2022 onwards.

Current record quote for the "optional" but "required if you want to preserve warranty" drains work is £1000, on top of base service price. Some dealers charge £0.

I wrote to the CEO of Porsche GB, setting out this chaos in some detail. I was fobbed off to the contact centre who sent a bland and frankly useless response blaming dealers who "set their own labour rates". We all know, of course, that varying labour rates might explain 20-50% difference but absolutely do not result in service prices varying from £300 to £1500.

They have confirmed the warranty position as follows by the way:
Drainage checks are indeed optional and part of the long-life vehicle check. While customers are not required to have them performed, the check of the drains is to ensure they are clear of leaves and debris, as blockages can lead to potential issues. If drains are not checked and become blocked, this could potentially lead to water ingress into the vehicle, which may not be covered under warranty.
I am not sure how it would stand up legally if we executed all the required servicing but had warranty for water ingress denied because we had not done "optional" additional work. But there you are.

The chaos is down to Porsche not setting clear service scope. They own this problem and it is in their gift to eliminate all this confusion by simply specifying the service scope properly.

I've responded along those lines but frankly dealing with Porsche is like corresponding with a utility or a government agency.
