I volunteered to drive her to school.
As we approached the door to the garage, I motioned for to be as quiet as possible.
I opened the door, and she was absolutely amazed that my A6 Allroad had magically been replaced by…

Unfortunately I then had to redirect her to the i4 given the lack of plates. (Typing this now as I wait in line for that…)

Returned home and told my wife that I was going back to bed to get more sleep after my big hike yesterday followed by how they kept waking me up last night when I had tried to go to bed early.
Omitted for the moment the additional factor of the 3:10am delivery.

Awoke an hour later just in time to see my wife driving away from the house.
Did not find any note with the contact information for her legal counsel in the upcoming divorce proceedings.

Was in the garage setting up the Taycan when she pulled in…

My wife was also flabbergasted at how this car had been apparently teleported into our garage overnight. I explained that our daughter hold told me the prior morning to buy a station wagon EV. I did though confess that I had of course bought it the prior week!
“I’m so glad you now have an EV for all your ski trips.”
She didn’t even complain about the Audi blocking the view of her landscaping.
She was shocked by the price but didn’t seem to care. Perhaps because she knows that I now can’t complain about the cost of her latest landscaping round!

She then biked with me halfway to the RMV, blowing past me on any hills, as always.
She wanted to stop at her favorite cafe, but I didn’t want to risk getting skunked at the RMV.

My takeaway from this story is that the adults were lying to me all those decades ago. Santa Claus does in fact exist, and he lives in Western Mass.

Re EVSE, yes, expect to see my posting about that!

My initial plan was to hardwire a 48 then at the same time install an open NEMA.
This was based on the i4 forum IIRC, but two different electrician said I’d be pushing our panel max trying to charge two cars simultaneously.

For now we’ll share the 48, especially since the i4 “overnight” charging is almost always done by the time I need to wake up anyway to take a leak, so easy to swap the plug from one car to another.

A big factor is what kind of EV charging program our utility is finally going to implement.
If we get a big discount for waiting until something like 10, then will make sense to install a load sharing setup.

Test fit of Vredestein Space Master spare in rear passenger footwell.
This worked out nicely in the i4 when carrying two people in front, one person in back, and a bike spanning the cargo area and 60% of the rear seat fold down.
