Since purchase of Taycan last year, OTA approximate update count:
- oven: 3
- phone: 5
- tablet: 5
- headphones: 1
- mower: 1
- Tesla: 6
- Porsche: 0

Visits to dealer for “software upgrades:
- Porsche: 2 (2 days each time)
- everything else in the household: 0
No smartwatch, TV with streaming, DVR, desktop computer, smart speakers, internet connected EVSE (car charger), internet connected vacuums, washers/dryers/dishwashers/fridges/freezers, etc?

I recently bought a dishwasher (Bosh, so German engineering), had to pay a significant premium to get one which DOES NOT connect to the internet. I.e. all functions are available via the control panel on the dishwasher, has no internet connection at all - though they still got rid of all physical buttons, all touch nowadays, but at least not dependent on someone else's computers (a.k.a. the cloud) to wash my dishes.

German engineering at its best :)
“Tell me a bit about yourself, and why you want to join us at Miele.”

“As a team member at Cariad, I designed and implemented the charging programmability for Porsche’s Taycan model. I tamed a simple problem with a complex, multi-axis modeling. It was a very-well received feature, and it provided me with the impetus to reach a vastly wider audience. I feel that I can help Miele really bring usability to a next level - to all their consumers.”

“Can you start on Monday?”

Haha. I didn’t do the full inventory. But I can safely say that no device has had fewer updates than the Taycan. And most have fewer known bugs.

oh how true. And also “I figured out how to give users a level of control they didn’t know they wanted, including a particularly obscure way not just of starting charging but of stopping it too.”
And “I added a very clever feature which makes part of the user interface disappear, replacing it not just with three almost-invisible lines, but with three *auto-disappearing* almost invisible lines depending on whether the vehicle is in Park. This will certainly enhance your product in ways that surprise the user.”

My Taycan has had more OTA updates than most other devices. Just on my way home from the dealer, the Taycan notified me it received a map update at least 30 times (I am not exaggerating - it drove me nuts the whole way, still is one of my pet peeves). Besides even more map updates since, I think I got calendar and weather app update once or twice. I received a notification from Porsche about an OTA update which never came - I suspect it was installed by the dealer a couple of months later when I visited service for another issue. But I guess notification came over-the-air to my phone MyPorsche app, so part of the update was OTA?
