Wheel Alignment main dealer

So has anyone else had problems, Main dealer alignment issues?

Took my car to main dealer for a recall with the 12v battery. The service personnel asked if there was anything I was concerned about.

I mentioned I drove the car in sports plus mode for about 3 months and worn the inner front tyres down, so put it back into normal mode and it was fine. I said surely this shouldn't be so. 3 weeks previous to main dealer visit had my wheel guy diamond cut my wheels and put new front tyres on. Asked if he would check the tracking, said he didn't want to do it, let main dealer do it.. So I asked if she could check it. I was shocked at the £499 charge as BMW used to do my e92 M3 and X3 m40d for £110, Cars always came back spot on. I reluctantly said lets do it then I know for sure set up will be good. Got the phone call 2 days later (as couldn't do it same day), I was told the front wasn't bad the rear was out, never had any wear issues on rears. Went to pick it up drove it and knew straight away it wasn't right, gave it a few days grace, though found I was having to pull the steering wheel right as car wants to pull left. Rang main dealers, rebooked in again they need it for a couple of days, said they want to make sure to get it right. You would think at that money main dealers would be getting A1 the first time out.

My 2021 4s drove arrow straight before this.

Yep, Porsche tax! Use any decent tyre shop who have Hunter Engineering alignment equipment and the cost is typically +/- £100. The only issue is if the front camber needs adjusting as this requires removal of the front bumper and calibration of sensors afterwards so seriously expensive.

Be aware when getting an alignment at an independent shop they will need a special tool to adjust the rear toe. It is VW tool T90009. I bought one to provide to the alignment shop when getting my car aligned. They have a Hunter machine too and it walks the technician through the alignment process and mentions the need to use this special tool when adjusting rear toe. I've had poor luck at the dealer getting correct alignments. My theory is that the technicians do not do alignments often. An independent alignment shop does many alignments per day. The front camber adjustment is indeed a major effort. It is unlikely to need front camber adjustment unless you hit something.

Thanks for you input chaps.
So got a phone to pick it up and was told it’s in tolerance. I said so you’ve done it. She said no, it didn’t need doing. I said I’m not having it. Car went in driving straight I’m not accepting it’s pulling now to the curb.. she said you can go out with a technician if you like I said yes I will. But on the way to the garage, I’ve got another call saying the manager wants to get it back in to have a look at the situation. I mean come on you take it to Porsche because you want it done right. Though Is it really that complicated??

Sounds like they hadn't done anything and asking to test drive with the tech panicked them

So was called back to take a test drive with the master mechanic. Car was pulling to left. I told him but he said he has done everything to the book. gave it a full realignment. I said the steering wheel down a degree to right but pulling left. He said the tool they put on the steering wheel makes it drop slightly out the instrument cluster which I said that seems odd. He mentioned the rear was out and that could've been a factor, it is now setup correct now. I said I will have to get a second opinion as Ive never had a car pull like this. He said I don't know what else to do. We got back to the garage the manager was there I told him the issue. He said take my car out which is 2024 and see if there is difference. So I did and the car was pretty much driving as mine is. I apologised to the tech and he said no don't we just want you to be happy. I thought it must be me going mad.

So now driving the car after a couple days 'm not convinced the steering wheels faces right but the car pulls left on very slight cambered roads and straight roads for me.

I feel like I need to take it somewhere for a second opinion. I am going daft? LOL!!!!
