I simply don't engage this conversations with 'friends' who are rabidly anti EV mainly because it always veers off into a politics conversation that I have no interest in.
I agree. I find myself having a hard time getting anything through them because they have already built a bias against EV without much evidence other than “what about the lithium mining?!” Oh, but let's forget about the oil spills that happens all around the world—those are okay. It's probably best not to engage them to save yourself some sanity.

Even accounting for the emissions related to mining and battery production, EVs still have lower lifetime emissions than ICE vehicles. And even if the EV is powered solely by coal power, its total emissions are still lower than those of a corresponding ICE vehicle.

Although it would take the patience of a saint to explain this to the anti-EV crowd. ?

I just explain to them that I bought it because it’s faster than 99 percent of the cars on the road, and that it’ll drop their ICE pig like a bad habit at a light or on the freeway. I also encourage them NOT to buy an EV, as I want as many slow ICE cars on the road as possible.

I don't get into this conversations cuz I really don't care.
I drive electric cuz it's a way better drive than ice, simple.
And if it's better for the environment, well that's a bonus.
I really had no idea petrolheads are such environmentalists...
I really don't understand the hate of this small minded people so I don't bother, you'll never going to convince them.
Selective proof etc, no thx.
It's a Porsche, a very pretty one and it's damn fast.
I'll let the car do the talking. ?

I am buying a Taycan because I wanted a quiet comfortable 4-door car with a good turn of speed when I want it.
IC engined cars which achieve that are as heavy as the Taycan and still have the problem of the narrow power band and relatively poor throttle response which give a good chance of always being in the wrong gear for the occasional turn of speed IME.
Electric motors are a no-brainer IME. Being far less polluting is a bonus.

I say that I was tired of spending time at going to gas stations.
I say it just to be first before I get the argument that I probably waste a lot of time charging the car. That EV's are not usable because they charge so slow.
And it is not a lie. I do save 3 hours per year. That is the time I spend before going at gas stations minus the time I spend now for charging.

If that is not enough, I say I was tired of the noise and vibrations. Because the second counterargument is typically that an EV has no emotions because it does not make a lot of noise. It is also not a lie. I drove big diesel cars before (Range Rover). The noise and vibrations (especially in combination with the start/stop system at traffic lights) was annoying.

And if you really think about it: it's relatively simple compared to ic cars.
In fact ice are so complex to run and are highly inefficient.
Look how complicated it is and the amount of moving parts....all drive train losses.
They only use 20-25% of the stored energy in the fuel.
Besides, why should an engine be running when it's doing nothing?
You need a gearbox to compensate the shortcomings of an ice.
Therefore you need a clutch etc.
You can even skip differentials, also reduces drive train losses.
For designers it's a dream to work on EVs, even space is used much more efficiently.
The only thing that is missing is sound but then again, sound is just a loss of performance...
