Wise decision.

Overall there is around a £10K difference when you bring the standard spec of the 4S up to that of the base spec of the Turbo. You then have to decide if its worth it for more oomph that you would likely rarely if ever use.
I may have missed something but putting all the bits standard on a Turbo on a 4S still left it £17k less expensive but missing a lot of options I wanted.
Both specced with the options I wanted the Turbo was £22k dearer.
£22k for a performance improvement I would almost never use was daft IMO.

Did you add the PSCB brakes, matrix lights, metallic paint, storage pack, sports chrono, 20" turbo wheels, extended leather, 14-way comfort seats, embossed head rests, Bose, painted front valance, Performance Battery+, PTV+, Sports Design side-skirts, auto dim interior & exterior mirrors and rear seat heating - £116.8K compared to £101.3K for a 4S with the same spec - £15.5K cheaper (so a lot for extra oomph) - and still options to add - Pano Roof, 360 pano cams, 2-tone leather, coloured seat belts.

This is why the 4S is really the sweet spot currently until (if) the GTS breaks cover!

Hi everyone,

Been on the forum for a few days and lots of information you have all posted. I’ve learnt so much and already changed my configuration ahead of my test drive in a few days time.

Question I have is should I go CT 4s, turbo or turbo s?

One of my clients said his local dealership said the 4s is the sweet spot. I’ve been looking at all three similarly spec’d up. I’ve managed to persuade the finance minister that we can go all the way to turbo s but is it a nice to have?

Another thing I read here somewhere on here difference between turbo and turbo s is only extra Hp in launch mode. Is that also correct

Your thoughts are most welcome

TurboS fully decked out all options with Paint to Sample (PTS) CT or Sedan - it’s really the only choice. All other choices are indequate and reflect poorly on you as a human on planet earth - allens will laugh and point during the invasion at any lesser vehicle…bankruptcy is the only path forward.

:cool::rock::clap:

honest answer: it’s hard to go wrong - the 4S/Turbo/TurboS all have way more power than one can safely or legally use.

A lot of what you list was of no interest to me :)

My 4S CT spec, around £108k, Turbo CT with same options £130k. My code is PNHCVM99

2-tone Leather massage and cool 14 way seats and Bose plus torque vectoring, rear wheel steer and the less rusting brakes. 21" CT wheels - the only wheel option I like.
Not that much cosmetic stuff.

Yep but the point was to compare apples with apples saloon model.

But you're right to spec what's important.

isn’t that the case with any Porsche model these days. Here in the UK, even a Nissan micra or Fiat 500 would smash the legal speed limit (though personally I wouldn’t want to be in them - not unless I become a young student again!)

What is the value of the Sports chrono? Maybe I didn’t understand this option properly…

It seemed to be:
1) a clock on the dashboard - why?
2) a twisting button to change modes - but there is already a “Sport” mode button on the touchscreen and if you want range/gravel or sport plus (rare for me) it’s 2 clicks on the display

What am I missing?
I change the drive mode every minute even on highway... but it often changes the clim settings

Why do you do that? I use Sport mode (with the Sport plus chassis setting) if I’m on my own on mountain roads but if I’m on the motorway or with family it stays in normal mode which is the most comfortable for cruising and still doesn’t lack any power for overtaking IMO.

I personally like it on all my Porsche cars as a faster way to change the drive mode on your vehicle without being distracted by the screen when you're driving. Simple twist and done. It also adds sport+ driving mode. No going through a menu or anything. You can also get it with a cool compass on the dash. Not necessary but was one of my "must haves".

If money is of no concern, then get buckwild and order the Turbo S. If you're sensible with your money, the reality is even the 4S has a level of speed and performance you likely would never use and you can have it nicely equipped for a huge chunk of savings off the Turbo S.

Between the two highest trims, the Turbo is probably the better value, as you end up paying a huge premium for the Turbo S, essentially to just have extra horse power in launch control. A feature most people likely use a couple of times and never again. To me that's not worth the the extra $35k. In regular driving the power is the same.

Individual mode (personalised settings), Sport Plus mode (not same as Sport and not just PSM), GT Sport Steering Wheel + option between a Chrono Clock or Compass. So more for your money than you might think, but equally more than you might need / use. You'd expect it to be standard on the Turbo but it isn't and you have to go Turbo S before Porsche see it as an 'essential' item.

It's a traditional Porsche 'performance' option where people seen it as a 'must have'. I didn't spec it on my Taycan as I don't like the look of the 'growth' on the dash. I have it on my Boxster S but is integrated into the dash and sits flush.

Absolutely not a 'must have'.
It's included as standard in a Turbo MY22 CT now.

I believe it is one of those basic must haves in Porsche, and not picking it would affect future value.

Highly unlikely IMHO - std in Turbo and Turbo S were the audience is more performance focussed. Optional in a 4S if the budget won't stretch to a Turbo. Pointless in basic Taycan.

If it were less conspicuous it might have more appeal.
