Just wondering why the brake cooling ducts particularly in front of and behind the front wheels? Most of the braking is regenerative by the inboard motors, not the hefty discs on the hubs. So the discs are not going to get hot in the same way they would on a normal caliper/disc braked car. So are they just cosmetic really or are they there for rare cicumstances such as on track?

Cue @f1eng to explain how the vents contribute to the air curtain around the front wheels to reduce aerodynamic drag. Or maybe to tell me I’m wrong. Either way, he’ll have something interesting to contribute here.

Probably. My son-in-law who is an aerodynamicist in the aerospace industry was impressed with some of the small details.

The teardrop intakes and the vents behind the front wheels are not for brake cooling they are to manage the flow down the side of the car and reduce drag from wheel turbulence to improve aero efficiency.
They don't work as well if you choose the electric charge doors though :( they block the exit. The manual door is only available on the Turbo GT here in the UK since J1.2 though. Another reason I won't be replacing my J1 :)

That said the Taycan DOES have brake ducts to cool the rotors (as do all Porsches) on both the front and rear axels.

This image should give you a better idea of where they are actually located. As f1engsaid they are not the "visible" ducts in the front bumper or fender. If you zoom in/look closely you can even see the small ducts for the rear rotors.
