Wifi hotspot

From all I read here on the forum, the built-in Wifi hotspot is useless. So, I decided to turn it off - who wants pointless radio frequency pollution? But the car is very upset about it and nags to turn it back on each time the PCM restarts. Anyone got any idea why? The car somehow seems to think it is important.
