SSB is always “a couple years away.” They said that two years ago and two years before that…..Just wait for the solid state battery vehicles to come out. If you thought that depreciation is bad now, get ready for a huge step down in value for non-SSB vehicles. Its within the next couple of years.
With the cost of SSB pouches being higher than the current cells initially, high end vehicles are most likely to get it first. High end vehicles historically also have higher depreciation as is.
Even if they show up tomorrow they would be years away from mass production. And when they get mass produced, like you said, they wouldn’t be cheap.
I don’t think they’ll really make any difference to our current resale values anytime soon.
New models tend to be better than used models. That’s just how it is.
