I installed a VIOFO A119 V3 dashcam via the VIOFO HK3 Hardwire Kit. The Viofo is a lower end dash cam, but I have them in all our cars and they last for years with no issue. I connected the switched and unswitched wires together so it operates only when the car is on. I followed other posts and tapped into the C4 empty fuse socket in the passenger footwell. Then I ran the ground and dashcam wire up through the passenger dash fusebox. Then ran the dashcam wire up the A pillar and along the headliner to the cam.
First, here are the inside views of the lower and upper fuse covers. I took these off very gently with a plastic molding tool. The lower one pops out on the big side, and then pivots back and out. The top one pops in and out - no pivots.
I trimmed the kit wires as shown and soldered on a big lug on the ground wire that will fit around the M8 1.25 bolt in the upper fuse box.
Here is the install in the passenger footwell. I tucked the 5V voltage adapter from the kit behind the lower wall. I threaded the ground wire and dashcam wire up into the upper dash fusebox.
Here is the ground wire coming into the upper dash fusebox. The lug goes over the existing bolt (don't remove the factory nut).
Here is a zoom out look. I dry fitted the wire run and collected the extra dashcam wire here and tucked it below the fuses.
The only ugly part, It didn't seem like the A-pillar cover lifted out easily along the bottom. The run up the windshield was fully hidden.
FInally tucked in up along the headliner and out to the dashcam.
