Good news for you!
?

Out of interest I ordered mine about the same time (direct from Porsche OPC) and picked it up 8th August.
so by deduction ... if anyone orders a Taycan via a leasing company in UK .. then add 3-4 months ...

Ordered my Taycan RWD Crayon Grey in June through my company leasing scheme ran by ALD Leasing. I've been told twice by ALD it's firmed its late February 22. I hope it doesn't slip. I was verbally told Dec but that was only verbally so took that with a pinch of salt.

I ordered a 4s on 13/11/2020. Was stuck at Emden dock from early August due to semi conductor issues. Made a complaint to Porsche UK CEO as no clue on delivery. That was a waste of time as they did nothing. However It’s finally arrived at Sheerness today. Very excited!

Hi all, first post ?

I have just sold my daily driver (BMW M135i) back to BMW 11 months into my PCP, for my settlement figure, plus £1k pocket money.

I am able to take advantage of my employers salary sacrifice scheme to lease a new EV, so I sold up given the crazy market.

Long and the short of it is, I need to get a car sorted asap, I was expecting to wait 6 months but it appears to be far worse now.

I originally ordered a BMW i4 M50, with delivery expected in April, however having spoken direct to dealers, it’s looking like August at the earliest.

If I’m going to wait that long I want to make sure I get the car I really really want.

I love the look of the Taycan and having never owned a Porsche, I’m intrigued. I’ve not even viewed one yet.

Quick man maths shows that a Taycan CT 4s would be just about affordable for me, with an ok specced one over 4 years 15k, being £1076 including tax, tyres, insurance and service, with no advanced payments. Compared to personal deals elsewhere it appears like a circa £24k saving, but is still obviously a large chunk of money.

Am I realistically looking at a 12 month wait?

Does it appear that 3rd party lease customers are waiting longer?

I know it’s subjective, but would the Taycan be worth an extra £368 vs the i4 M50 (which looks a very capable car).

Any guidance appreciated.

Cheers

M5 Comp, Taycan ordered

I’ve essentially done exactly the same as you having sold my M5 Comp back to the dealer at then end of 2020.
I didn’t manage to order my car until August 2021 as Octopus hadn’t finalised the scheme so I bought a Nissan Leaf to access the company EV scheme and have been driving around in very old Sh**box cars since then ?

I’d say give it a go, there doesn’t seems to be an accurate correlation between lease and non lease and Octopus did a great job finding me an allocation - my Turbo S is due any day now!

I’ve had ~14 BMWs but didn’t even look at the i4 - doesn’t nothing for me. The Taycan is more than compatible to the M5 and in a league of its own. The M135i (had one of those too!) is a great car so you’d really notice the extra size and weight jumping into anything else.

Loads of questions here.

Firstly, you should drive a Taycan. It's nothing like your BMW. It is a big, luxury, sport saloon.

Secondly, you need to see if your employers scheme can get an order. It does seem that some people on here (search NHS) struggle to get cars through employers scheme.

Lastly, you are having to work out whether it's just about affordable for 4 years with no deposit at all. It is a £100k plus car. Have you factored in living cost/interest rate rises etc that are imminent?
You don't want to leave yourself no financial wiggle room just for the sake of owning a car.

On the plus side of this, you have to actually look at 'total' costs with an EV? P11d BIK / home charging v petrol etc.

Have a test drive first.
You will be blown away by the Taycan.
I had an M2 prior and it's just a different world.

Thanks for the responses.

I’ve done plenty of research,I always enter into things eyes wide open. I have a good amount of wiggle room, but I’m by no means rolling in it, which is why I do extra due diligence.

I have been fortunate to run some nice cars in the past, my last car prior to the BMW was a 5.0 V8, but then the something happened globally and I downsized ?

I have delayed seeing one as I know what the end result would be. I sat in an e tron GT, but no disrespect to it, it felt too normal Audi for me at this price point.

BMW dealers don’t have any i4’s to look at yet, but I appreciate it’s a 4 series gran coupe with extra weight.

I have factored in all costs and the 4s would cost around £280 more a month vs my one series, once you take into account petrol, tyres, tax, insurance etc but that is pcp vs lease, that’s the bit I need to get my head around given the outlay over 4 years.

I had a look at reviews for i4 M50 after your post......

It seems a great car, but can just look maybe a bit too 'plain vanilla' imo, especially compared to a Taycan.

I do like BMWs - wife has got an X2 M and wish they did a full EV version of it as its a great car.

I loved my M2 and the Taycan was the only thing that dragged me away from another BMW.
That said, the Taycan is just stunning. Rides like a Bentley but goes like a 911.

You better not try one ?
I got out of my test drive and didn't want to get back in the M2.

Well my Taycan Turbo ordered Oct 20 and due to spec error at my dealer was reordered March, went into production 23rd July and can’t quite believe it exited production today 29th Nov … beats an extended 8mths, in fact so long & such a saga that I’ve sort of mentally blocked the fact the new Turbo was ever coming but it’ll now be on its way to Emden - Grimsby and dealer collection so it’s become front of mind again.
(I must say I’ve loved driving my 4S on country roads this past week - some really enjoyable journeys)

Shouldn’t have gone to see one. Just gorgeous, blew my mind. Dealer reckons q2 22 for a 4s ct. Turbos and turbo S are longer.

When does the order go in? ?
Don‘t?

currently chasing the delay on my BMW, my local dealer were not optimistic.

*update*

The lease company spoke directly with my supplying BMW dealer while I was on the phone to them and they’ve said as far as they’re aware, it could still be April, but until a build slot is allocated, they don’t really know. So ultimately they don’t have a clue.

My local Porsche centre didn’t appear overly keen on giving me a test drive, asked me to find out the potential supplying dealer.

Don't say I didn't warn you ?
I was truly hoping I’d be like “meh,” imho it’s so much nicer than the E tron GT inside. Still can’t get over the size of it though.

Felt every inch a special car.

I truly don’t know what to do. I’d be blown away by the BMW‘s performance no doubt and I’ve added some nice spec, but the Taycan is on another level and I don’t think I’d sleep in the build up to delivery.

parking at work would definitely concern me. I’ve seen one Taycan there so far, I think I’d have to remortgage and get the whole thing ppf’d.
