Two questions to start:

Do you need AWD (snow/mud etc)?

Do you need the extra space of the CT?

Additionally, new variants of the ST rumoured to be announced. May likely have a shorter wait time as new models (as per GTS) and may be slightly cheaper than CT (from those with more knowledge than me)

Good specs BTW. Think you have most of the main bases covered.

Its only for winter days really that I’d like the AWD. I don’t need it regularly. I appreciate winter tyres are optimal, but that’s a bill I don’t want to think about right now ?

The CT would be great as I’ve got a German shepherd, but equally she’d be fine in a dog sling in the cabin.

I think with the German Shepherd the CT probably makes a lot more sense?

And the difference in the two CT costs is marginal.

Have you factored in 'fuel' and 'car tax'?
Assuming you have a home charger and cheap energy?
My Taycan is working out about 5-10% of what the M2 used to cost in Shell Vpower and road tax.

It was about £250pm for those and now its only £10—£15 in cheap rate electricity with Octopus Go.

Home charger install is included And tax as well.

likewise, Vpower was killing me.

I think you've got the main parts covered there - seems a good spec.

I've just had an email to say mine will complete it's build 6/12/21!!

awesome ?

I think I’m edging toward the RWD. Plenty of real world performance, better range and the money saved pays for the juice to run it.

Hi all, first post ?

I have just sold my daily driver (BMW M135i) back to BMW 11 months into my PCP, for my settlement figure, plus £1k pocket money.

I am able to take advantage of my employers salary sacrifice scheme to lease a new EV, so I sold up given the crazy market.

Long and the short of it is, I need to get a car sorted asap, I was expecting to wait 6 months but it appears to be far worse now.

I originally ordered a BMW i4 M50, with delivery expected in April, however having spoken direct to dealers, it’s looking like August at the earliest.

If I’m going to wait that long I want to make sure I get the car I really really want.

I love the look of the Taycan and having never owned a Porsche, I’m intrigued. I’ve not even viewed one yet.

Quick man maths shows that a Taycan CT 4s would be just about affordable for me, with an ok specced one over 4 years 15k, being £1076 including tax, tyres, insurance and service, with no advanced payments. Compared to personal deals elsewhere it appears like a circa £24k saving, but is still obviously a large chunk of money.

Am I realistically looking at a 12 month wait?

Does it appear that 3rd party lease customers are waiting longer?

I know it’s subjective, but would the Taycan be worth an extra £368 vs the i4 M50 (which looks a very capable car).

Any guidance appreciated.

Cheers

I don’t mess around especially when I need to get an order in.
I do do hours of research however ?

I was lurking for a while before posting.

Tbf if Audi didn’t reckon it would be 12 months for an e tron, I’d probably be even more torn ?

Spent all today on configurators, including Polestar, which would be a 2 year stop gap, but that’s nearly £800 a month over that lease period.

Also in a similar position to you. Just ordered a 4S CT via my employers SS scheme. Managed to get it to £932 p/m including maintenance, tax, insurance etc. based on BIC at 1%. Will creep up to £964 p/m next year when this increases to 2%.

Regarding wait time, the system is telling me 'late November 2022' and I ordered on Nov 22nd. I'm taking this as realistic and if it moves forward then that's a bonus. Hopefully that wont leave me disappointed but you never know.

It’s a lot of power through 2 wheels.
I’ve never been able to figure out if it’s the battery weight so substantial and placed low or 4 wheel drive (or combo of both) that has my 4S so nimble when tweaked to Sport settings but it drives & handles like a go kart on twisty county roads - so much fun … but the car is damn fast & pushing to the limits you can get caught out due to the size of the car and I’d be wary of pushing this hard on RWD (I accept not every enjoys country road faster driving just a comment after 18mths of 4S because after 3mths I’d ordered an upgrade to Taycan Turbo & added rear wheel steer too)

Thats interesting, our system is saying 35 weeks, but Porsche Nottingham reckon Q2 22 based on a build slot check.

Also those figures are substantially better than mine, do you mind my asking how many miles and what spec that’s based on?

I‘ve been told our deal is by no means the best, with the NHS contracted rates being cheaper, but I can’t complain too much as its so much cheaper than a personal lease outside of work!

Thanks for that. I certainly enjoy getting to 60 quickly and a spirited drive along the B roads around here.

The turbo is a beast, I can only imagine the feel of driving one ?

Placed an order for a Taycan RWD with our companies lease provider SG Fleet on March 5th 2021 and was given a date of 21 October which had not moved for months. Kept chasing every couple of weeks and same date given. Then 1st week of Oct I wanted to be 100% sure it was coming as my M4 had to be returned. SG Fleet went radio silent, very very poor customer service. I’m told it’s delayed until Jan. And since Mid October SG Fleet have been totally clueless about any delivery date other than ‘Jan’ …. No clues on a build number or any detail from Porsche at all …. Hence … is a lease provider lower priority for orders than Porsche customers direct ? Is January still likely as it’s then been 10months from ordering ?
My order is through a works lease company too but they put me in touch with my preferred dealer - Porsche Cambridge..so my dialogue is directly with the salesman - he tells me my order is in a queue like every other customer and now in the hands of Porsche - there may be something where Porsche themselves prioritise build slots for direct customers rather than lease but thats just speculation and I have no evidence of this - just have to hope 12 months is worse case in my situation.

I didn't think the lease company would disclose the dealership dealing with the order - good to know. I will try and find this out for mine too as the lease co. is useless at obtaining meaningful information.

I spoke to my local about this and suggested that might not be the case (re low priority) but BMW were very open in saying “yes that is the case.”

I spoke with my lease provider and they said the way they purchase their vehicles means, I will be treated essentially like any other direct dealer purchase customer.
