A Zappi v2 – originally for my Panamera Turbo S – because it has PIN protection and I am in a shared carpark under my apartment.

50 amp circuit to the PMCC in the charging dock delivering 40 amps and 9.6kw (usually see about 8.7-8.9kw into the battery). Picture is to really only to show off Porschestraße and Parking signs my kids got me for Christmas from Suncoast ;)

Gentleman Blue:
I bought a ClipperCreek back in 15 to charge the BMW i3 had electrical install a seperate 220 line for it ($425) The Clipper Creek works flawlessly and was pretty inexpensive at the time (2015) highly recommend their product . Day I got Taycan home plugged it in and it has been charging seemleesly every since. I’m sure there are better newer faster systems but Clipper Creek is a simple easy to use system charging time from 35%-95 % in 5-6 hrs at night when rates are cheap.
Good luck with whatever you choose. And BTW there is something kind cool about a home having an EV charger…
outside…don’t worry about hiding it.

I’m getting quotes for some 7kw options at the moment, I have approx 25m run from my consumer unit to the area I’d like the charger and the cable will run through open loft space, what sort of costs would others expect?

I’m being quoted between £1.5k and £1.8k after the £350 gov grant currently so welcome any thoughts.

I got Andersen too but mine is inside my garage.
I like the cable being hidden.

What's wrong with using the EVSE (Porsche Mobile Charger Plus) that you get with the car rather than purchase another?

I had Andersen's install my supply, Porsche Mobile Charger Connect and Porsche Dock in my garage for £550. Excellent service.

I’m new to this so maybe I’m getting confused, I assumed I need a home supply to charge the car.

The quotes I have are for either the Ohme, Zappi V2 or Hypervolt so perhaps my use of the word ‘charger’ isn’t quite right?

No you will get a charger (Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) is the proper term as the actual charger is built into the car) supplied as standard equipment along with 2 supply cables and one 4.5m cable to connect the EVSE to the car.

Check the standard specs (bottom of the configurator) to assure yourself.

Has your dealer not offered advice on what you need and don't need?

Using the standard kit all you need is an electrician to run a 32A supply from your fuse box to where you want the EVSE installed.

Check location and whatever weather proofing you might need if any.

The Porsche Mobile Charger Plus, Ohme, Zappi and Hypervolt are called 'EVSE's. The only thing you need is a plug near where you will be charging your car. Once the plug is installed, you can use the EVSE (the device which connects your power mains to the car) which comes with the Taycan (Porsche Mobile Charger Plus) or any other EVSE like the Zappi, etc.

You should have an electrician install the plug.

I could have got away with just a socket but decided that I wanted something with a tethered cable that was not visible when not in use. The Andersen looked best so I got that. It was installed by a local company and was very expensive because of where I wanted it locating relative to my fuse box. There is a 30 metre armoured cable run through my garage, up through a room into the loft, along and back out. It was cheaper than digging under the drive. A simple socket would also have been expensive due to the cable run.

I'll speak with my dealer to get a better understanding (only just placed the order) and perhaps just get a 32A supply into my garage and then just attach Porsche Mobile Charger Plus to that (I assume that comes with the car & I didn't need to spec it?).

That's correct - all supplied as standard - and will provide you with a perfect home charging solution for overnight charging.

Mind also to order a Public Mode 3 cable for use at an untethered public AC charging location - you may never need it but just in case your only option is a slow public AC charger which has no EVSE to car cable. No cable is needed for public DC charging which should be your first port of call over AC charging.
