I would add ‘Wheel Center Caps with Coloured Porsche Crest’ under wheel accessories. It is only CA$220 and makes a big difference IMO

With the interior you can have the clock with a red highlight which matches the red leather - looks really nice.
Red chrono face.

Great spec. I think perhaps the post on the accents might have been referring to the red brake calipers and the red leather interior? With the interior you can have the clock with a red highlight which matches the red leather - looks really nice. Personally I would likely stick with 4S but have black brake calipers with the colours you have chosen.
That's interesting. Never thought about that. I guess that would be an issue with anyone choosing red interior as the default caliper color for Taycan is red.

That pic with red chrono face looks sweet...

With the black calipers added + the Red colour in the clock, the price difference with GTS is miniscule.

Does it not make sense to jump to GTS given the difference isn't a massive amount and the value retention at time to resale will be better? The GTS however would be a bit of wait, likely a summer time delivery, which I am okay to wait.

All the thoughts going through my brain ..... would love to hear your thoughts.
I've been debating whether to upgrade my 4S allocation to a GTS as well but find it hard to justify the price premium for the GTS.

Not to go too off topic but I thought the more expensive variants always lost more in terms of depreciation than the cheaper models. Four-wheel Trader on YT has a video on Taycan depreciation that showed that. There's not a ton of data yet but the depreciation curved seem to be inline with other Porsche models. Or have the GTS historically been more special similar to the GT3/GT2 cars?

The video above is quite informative. Thanks for sharing.

It shows depreciation by year and depreciation per 1000 miles.

Based on the video, the data suggests a yearly depreciation of 7% for TurboS, 8% for Turbo and 5% for 4S. The depreciation based on per 1000 mile is 1.4% for TurboS, 1% for Turbo and 0.6% for 4S.

So there is truth to the notion that higher-priced trims depreciate faster. Given GTS is new, we can probably assume it fits between 4S and Turbo : say 0.8% per 1000 mile driven and around 7%/yr depreciation. Based on this assumption, at the end of 5 years GTS will depreciate around 10% more of its original value relative to 4S based on both /yr and /1000 mile depreciation rates.

In my example, we have a highly specked 4S worth C$150K vs a lightly specked GTS for C$163K. The math on depreciation curve suggest 4S will be worth around $110K after 5 yrs. GTS however will be worth $105K due to higher depreciation. This is non-sensical of-course as 4S can't be more expensive than GTS after 5 yrs.

That is essentially the problem with specking a 4S very highly. The depreciation value at the end of the horizon is anchored by the base 4S price : ie all the expensive specs will help differentiate the car from others and help sell faster but essentially are incredibly fast depreciating items.

So yes, while there is truth that higher trims loose value relatively quickly, and same is likely true for GTS, but it seems this higher depreciation amount for GTS is potentially much smaller relative to massive loss of value on expensive specks on 4S? I suppose, GTS value is anchored by GTS base price which is around C$30K higher than 4S and there-in lies the ultimate reason for it being a better store of value relative to a souped up 4S.

It seems to be a no brainer to go with GTS at least based on my interpretation of the data in the video. All this doesn't even consider the general point that GTS trims are potentially considered coveted trims ? Not sure if this will be true for Taycan.

Would be curious to hear other thoughts.

I was in the same dilemma as you; 15k difference between my 4s build and going towards a GTS. I ended up just sticking with the 4s as I will be using it as a daily in Canada where roads aren't great with a lot of snow. Also delivery for 4s would be in April for me whereas GTS they weren't sure and I wanted the car asap

Yeah its a very individual choice indeed - can't go wrong with either.

I ended up booking a GTS!

I have a very similar car - Gentian Blue, but with black and crayon interior. There’s no Premium Pack in the UK, but I added the glass roof and bigger battery, which is just as well, as the range plummeted when Winter arrived.

What I would not spec next time is the Sports Chrono and the electric sound. I’ve had major problems with the electric ports too.

The side-skirts look great by the way, so I’d add those in preference to an uprated sound system, as I hardly ever listen to the standard one anyway.

The one thing that I miss ( not available, at least here ) is soft-close doors. I’m forever having to have a couple of goes shutting them.

There was no GTS on sale when I specked my 4S and whilst I appreciate that spending a fortune on extras is perhaps not the best advice, I don’t need the performance and dislike the standard GTS interior.

All just personal, of course.

Basically $149,500 for 4S (with $28K of equipment upgrades) vs $163K for GTS ( $11K for equipment).

The GTS build: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNUPN9A2
couple of items in the GTS that just come with it but are not included/unavailable for building out a 4S:

- sport design package (at least the front end)
- LED Matrix Headlights
- Race Tex headliner
- larger motor/performance tic upwards.
- soft close doors

Soft close doors not available on Taycan. Porsche says to save weight since the car is already ~5000 lbs.

Looks like no matrix lights available right now, either - seems there's a stop order on them (at least, in the US). I have a 4s on order with them included and was told by my SA that they're still not available if I were to upgrade to a higher model (GTS, Turbo, etc). Quite a bummer - was really excited about that technology (once legal in the US, that is).

my bad on the soft close doors - i was reading the posts and misread that it was part of the GTS...I should have known better. Sorry everyone!

That said, on the LED Matrix, they are included with the GTS where they are an option for the 4S and been decoupled from being included with the Premium Pkg within the 4S build - $2K option.

Indeed, by the time one adds all the various options there is very little diff left between 4S and GTS.

Gut says GTS is better value relative to high specked 4S, but time will tell.

This will be my first Porsche and I know shouldn't be focusing soo much on resale and logic etc. But somehow I want to feel good about the financial decision to spend around C$185K on a depreciating asset haha. I am much more at easy at deploying this level of capital when I know the value of it in future would be multiples higher lol

Yeah, I agree the matrix lights are there - included on the GTS, and I added them as an option on my 4s. But my sales rep at the dealership said that there's a stop order on the matrix lights, and porsche corporate isn't telling them when they'll be available again. So if I wanted to include them, then my delivery date would continue to be delayed until those lights are available again (she said they're not available on any Taycan models right now). So I opted (begrudgingly) to just go with the regular LED PDLS+ lights to be able to stick with an April delivery. Would love to hear that my rep was wrong and there was a way to actually get these lights, though...
