I know I cannot keep the wife from driving the car forever so….I set her up as a user on the car.

A couple questions for the Taycan experts...

1. What features does the unique registrations save? Seat position? Anything else? I'd prefer to drive the car low and in sport. She probably wants more of a vanilla experience. Would be nice if those selections were also retained. Since the car door enables you to change seats I just wonder the benefit of a separate registration for each driver.

2. I saw somewhere that the keys can be specific to driver. How does that work, get set up, and what's defined to each key?

Thanks in advance. The tech in this car is absolutely awesome.

One problem I ran into was that when I give my wife a key she keeps it in her purse but the manual says not to have both keys in the car at the same time.

The problem was simply that the manual said not to do it. I didn't try so I can't cite any specific problems. That being said, I can't seem to find where I read that now.

From what I can tell, the vast majority of customizations are stored either in the seat memory buttons or the Porsche Connect Id that is logged in and selected. However, the last settings used are saved on the key that was used.

All comfort settings can be stored - seat, AC, PCM, media, mirrors and Porsche Connect ID in use. Drive mode etc not.

When setting make sure you keep your own key well away from the car and then make all the person settings for your wife. I also press the memory button for the key (1 I think) to ensure the settings are saved.

Lock the car and the test with both keys but not together and don't carry both in the car.

This is my gripe with all these systems (BMW is no better). Only having one key in the car is just not workable for the way I use my cars and if you have two it's perennially confused.

Can you explain "memory button key (1 i think)"? Do you mean the button on the door?

We have the same issue. It’s not a real world solution to only bring the key the driver will use on a trip. My wife has to have her key in her purse so when she alternates driving on a long trip she can use her key fob and adjust the seat to her settings automatically.
We’re going try the RFID key fob covers we each have to store the key fob in her purse when I’m driving and then I’ll put my key fob in my RFID cover in my pocket when she is driving. Hope this will solve the problem.
Porsche cannot expect only one key fob can be in the car at a time unless they put a switch on the key fob to turn it off when it’s not being used.
I would prefer that rather than have to put the key fob in a bulky RF ID case like I have…

@Gino If you press and hold lock and unlock at the same time the key goes into wash mode, at least thats what I call it. It is basically off.
The red light around the crest lights up to confirm. Note that easy acces will not work ofc. Is that what you are looking for?

I’ll try that, thanks! Does this mean you won’t need an RFID sleeve on your key fob when in your house or in your pocket/purse when traveling together where both key fobs would be in the vehicle at the same time?

That’s the idea yeah. It stops the transmission of signals. Note that it can be turned back on by pressing unlock.

Me and my wife use only one profile (mine). Though, she keeps her key and I keep mine. We have the memory seat “1” used for her settings, “2” for my settings and “3” is general to move the seat to the low position far from the steering wheel. That setup is perfect and we have never had problems that there are 2 keys in the car.

PS and we don’t have problems with drive settings. Individual is fully normal with recuperation and sport sound. If any of us want aggressive settings, sport plus is the way to go (my wife drives a lot in that mode lol)

All you have to do is to use the memory functions when only one key is present and then repeat the exercise with the other key. For the primary Porsche ID / key combination I'd suggest to use '1' and store all settings there. For the secondary use '2'.

When travelling together unlocking the car with the key of whomever is driving should be done first. If for whatever reason some settings get recalled from the other key (unlikely) then simply press the mapped memory button to restore.

My wife and I regularly have both keys in the car and have not had this problem. The one niggle is that if a set of keys is left in the car, car powered off and you then exit you can find that the car hasn't powered off or powered on again due to the presence of the key. Car can't be locked in this scenario either.
