Did a quick DIY Home Depot mod on my 2021 Taycan CT 4S. Since I didn't option the power chart port doors, I have the free flowing air vents from the front wheel wells to the doors.

I purchased some black aluminum mesh and screws and installation of the mesh pieces in my front fenders.

I plan to paint the silver screws black so they're not conspicuous and overall not too shabby results IMHO ?

hate to be an armchair QB but I think it would be way more durable and better esthetically if you mounted that on the other side of the fender liner. You are gonna find a TON of crud getting caught in that mesh and the exposed corners are going to frustrate you (it would me at least).

It would be a really easy job to do this; I think going that extra step will finish it off nicely!

Having taken a closer look at this picture, it looks like we 3D print blocks with a lattice to fit in there to continue to enable airflow for a more OEM look. Similar idea to using high density foam.

The suncoast description says these are closed on the turbo and turbo s models? Is this true for turbo without electric charge doors?
True on models with electric charge port doors.

FWIW - I ordered the Suncoast vent blocks. The description is deceiving. This is a complete wheel housing replacement, NOT just vent blocks. I returned them... FYI - Suncoast charges an up to 35% restocking fee and YOU pay for returned shipping. The items come in a large box that cost $200 to return... FYI...

@Kayone73 great mod I am intending to do on mine as well. Did you screw into the wheel well fabric liner or into the inside of the air curtain plastic itself?

Into the air curtain plastic, TBH I used small short screws, if I removed the mesh you would even notice the screw holes against black plastic unless you knew where to look

Here is my version of this mod.

Supplies
  • Grille Mesh from Amazon
  • #8 x 1/2" zinc pan head metal screws from Home Depot
Installation
  1. Turn the wheels to the side of the car being worked on
  2. Create a paper template of the internal face of the air curtain
  3. Cut the grille mesh to shape
  4. Tuck the edge of the grille mesh into the crack along the exterior
  5. Secure mesh to air curtain plastic using pan head screws
  6. Use a flat-faced metal tool to press down the edges of the mesh along the top, bottom, and inside so it won't "catch" on anything (especially your hands if you are ever working inside the wheel well)
  7. Paint the heads of the screws using black paint and a Q-tip, or a black sharpie

Nicely done! The #1 reason I opted for the electric doors was to avoid this problem. #2 is the look of the extra detail on the electric doors. If Porsche offered this type of solution for the manual doors, I probably would have gone manual. ??

I bought the same mesh as you, but was struggling to get the screws in.

So I came up with a poor man's version. Folded over the top vent and cable tie on the bottom vent.

It does leave the very top vent open.

It should be quite secure as the airflow will push the mesh against the vent.

I just need to think of better clips to fix the mesh to the vent instead of cable ties? Something like mini hair grips that you just push through would be ideal.

It would then be easy to remove and no drill holes etc.

I also found with the mesh... if you cut the strips in one direction they snap when folded. But if you cut them along the length they are pliable.

i think it’s a pretty good job, but why not just epoxy in a piece of plastic and just close it off entirely? That way, no clogging and nothing to clean.
Good point. Those meshes are sufficiently high resistance for there no longer to be an air curtain so may as well block completely.

I assumed the mesh would allow sufficient airflow to continue working, but I will bow to your superior knowledge on such matters.

I still might do it though as its an easy job and easily removed too.
