I would walk away from that dealership and car in a heartbeat. It’s not even about the money it’s that they treated you without respect.

That is interesting discussion about power steering wheel. I never knew that mine supposed to come with power or manual. I thought I missed that in configuration but was too excited to even asked about it. There were no notifications that my car is coming with Manual Steering wheel.

Anyways, so seems like Porsche just quietly changed that configuration without even mentioning it to customers.

Your dealer ought to have informed you and how they will do the retro fit when the part becomes available - apparently it is a simple job.

I checked with my dealer yesterday, they were saying that option is only for Macans and not for Taycan, since in Taycan they were able to install the manual controlling steering wheel. Same goes for seat belts, they skipped automatic tightening seat belts and power steering in mine. What a mess!

I don't think your service advisor knows what he/she is talking about then. I just inquired with mine the other day and he screenshotted to me the outstanding campaigns on my CT4S. The campaign is "WME3: Retrofitting electric steering column adjustment."

Just saw this on my invoice for something else. Thank you again for providing the correct information.

Porsche knows the car is not up-to-spec when it builds it.
They had the option of letting the impacted customer know at that point.
The customer receives it 6-8 weeks later, emotionally and financially increasingly committed.
(e.g. down payments made, other cars possibly sold, charger installed in those weeks, etc.)

If the customer is only told at the time of delivery, that kind of "bait and switch" behavior could be construed as conducting business in bad faith and/or breach of contract.

If the customer isn't even told at delivery, but finds out after the fact (like a number of users seem to be reporting), then there's even more "meat on the bone". This goes doubly for any feature that is something the customer explicitly paid extra for.

I don't like the "reward me with points and or money any time something doesn't go perfectly" either.

But it's really shitty for Porsche to just try and slip it through. No emails, no announcements, etc. And the kicker is: for many of us, the dealer/sales rep/"brand ambassador" has been in contact several times, notifying that the build started, finished, the car is on the boat, etc. "Track your dream" similarly is a good surface to warn customers early.

We shall see how they handle my delivery (and whether/what is missing).
I can tell you: had they told me in June (when the car was built), I probably would have made peace with it (depending on what exactly is missing). Although I think the quality impact concerns are real. If they try to just sneak it past me, I will consider my options. Up to and including legal ones.
Have you pursued legal remedies? If so, can you describe? Despite multiple attempts at resolution, my Taycan 4S still is missing parts that were part of the purchase agreement. Smells like a lemon law concern, but I would be interested in what you've done.

Mine ended up delivering without the electric steering adjustment. They didn't initially disclose it, but I prompted them with "Anything you want to tell me about this vehicle, any recalls I should be aware of". That's when they listed the missing functionality.

I was about to pick this matter back up because since delivery they have been on complete radio silence. It's been nearly half a year. The car is still missing parts that contribute to something I paid extra for...
Meanwhile it does seem like Porsche got more of those parts, since new cars ARE shipping with it. So, where's the follow up for all the customers that took delivery of incomplete cars?

(Yes, I've called the dealer before. And, as I expected, I got some boiler plate answer, and reassurance that I'd hear from them. I bet they hung up the phone and moved on with whatever else they were doing that day. Not holding my breath on the dealer actually doing anything)

Here in Romania I was fortunate enough to get electric steering column (ESC) and Matrix lights, 2 keys, but not automatic seatbelt tensioner (car out from production on 3.01.2022 and delivered 2.02.2022), honestly I don’t really miss it that much, despite having it on my Merc.

Dealer told me that in the building process, some cars may get the ESC and other features, some may not. More than that, they will not retrofit after delivery any of the missing features. Also, even with 8 ways seats, you should get the electric steering column as standard because there is no optional that you can choose.

I think the way Porsche is handling this is dreadful. At a minimum, there should be communication about how and when the company intends to correct these deficiencies. We all PAID for these elements, which were on our PURCHASE CONTRACTS. Right now, it is simply bad faith, since as you point out, they continue to build cars that include the missing pieces. In my opinion, affected customers should stop sitting back and at the very least demand a game plan from the company. And future customers should be aware that this is how they will be treated. For a car company that fancies itself as an ultra-premium brand, it is WAY BELOW expectations.

With no retrofit option, I assume they offered you the full deposit back if you don't want the car? Since you took it, did then discount the car? I get "sorry, we didn't have all the parts you originally ordered" but then they should accept "sorry, I don't have all the money I originally agreed to pay".

Unfortunately, as long as customers are willing to put up with whatever practices which allow them to make more money, they will have no reason whatsoever to change.

I think its a difficult situation, because we’ve been waiting for our builds for so long. Dealers will benefit from that.

I totally get that. I've seen various brand dealers do it to customers too excited to reject delivery, then deal with the frustrations of getting things corrected after the initial new car joy wears out. Once the dealer and manufacturer have full payment, they have limited incentive to push for quick resolution on retrofits. Unfortunately, as long as customers keep accepting this, it will keep on happening. :(

Totally agree on that. This chip shortage will be more time from now on because it’s going to be cheaper for the manufacturer. 1€/car isn’t much but when multiplying…
