So my Taycan CT is finally at the dealer, but has a stop sale as it doesn’t have an amplifier for the Burmester installed apparently.

How it passed any quality control checks for the (very expensive I might add) sound system at the factory is anybodys guess.

It will take 7-10 days to get the part apparently once Porsche give the go ahead to order, also why this is not pre agreed by Porsche the minute the car leaves the factory or enters the UK is a joke, further delaying the process. So it looks as though it will be a whole year from deposit placed to delivery after all!

The shine still slowly wears off the whole experience of buying a near £170k car, but I have become accustomed to it now! ?

I am aware of a car in Ireland missing the same Burmester amp and subject to a stop sale. But I don't think it was a case of it being forgotten to be installed in the factory. It is more of a current supply chain problem and so as not to have car's piling up in Germany they ship them to the dealers – but they are not yet considered completed.

It's not ideal – but sounds like you are a victim of a supply chain delay.

"Heh, heh, then youuuu ain't gettin' no Coke..."

It is what it is in this supply chain disrupted world. You can get upset about it or just take a deep breath and remember it's a first world problem.

And it wasn't a quality control issue. The car was obviously shipped without the amp due to supply and space issues, knowing it was an easy fix at the dealer later.

My main issue is not with the fact that they are having supply chain issues, but with how they are handling them. There are so many ways that Porsche could have handled that better:

For example, when your car is going into production, and there are missing parts, allow you to
(1) opt-out of the Burmester option
(2) choose to delay manufacturing (so that your car comes fully equipped from the factory, avoiding an error-prone fix at the dealer)
(3) ship anyway, fix later.
(4) cancel order.

This last minute surprise bullshit is just pure amateur hour.

Also, given my experience with the "retro-fit" approach: don't expect Porsche to keep you updated, don't expect them to prioritize making your car right over selling new cars with the amp, and don't expect them to actually live up to whatever they promise right now... (see other threads on electric steering adjust).

Aware it is a supply issue and wasn’t just forgotten, was more posting for awareness of another reason for delay to our Taycans.

I mention the quality control as in how can the car have any quality control checks for the audio side of things with no amplifier ever fitted.

I feel for the dealers as they had no idea until today after receiving the car Friday and giving me the good news it was ready to collect this week. The comms from Porsche Germany, to Porsche UK and then the independent dealers is useless.

Could not agree more, my point exactly!

Don’t think a 12 month wait is to be unexpected, or having various bits and pieces missing particularly uncommon in the past, currently or the near future. Think the majority of owners have experienced all or some of these, 1st world issues hey.

I had the same issue, Carr arrived on the 16th of march, Porsche dealer called me 3 days late to tell me the good news and the bad news. The bad news being the pedestrian awareness speaker is missing. Then I was told (3 days later) that it will be two weeks. Mid April I was told it was the burmester amp that was missing and another delay, in fact porsche will only get it on the 23rd of may and then it will take 10 days for the part to be shipped to ireland. It miraculously appeared last Thursday. I think porsche new all along about parts shortage but were hoping by the time car is ready to be delivered the parts would arrive. When it did not, they shipped the cars with a stop sale to clear their factory. The dealers would have known all along, everyone just lied taking all of us for idiots and that you don’t have a choice but to lump it

Agreed, very much a 1st world problem and well aware of whats been going on with other cars. It’s jsut the comms or lack thereof which make it so much worst.

Sadly this has been going on for a while now in the US. The dealers really seem to have no idea and are clueless as we customers. Here are at least 20 CTs delivered to US ports between 2/22 and end of March that are being held in port. The number of different stories on why from the SAs are also approx 20 in number! And the number of customers who sense their SA is wrong is 100%.

Maybe I’m biased because I work in manufacturing, but I’m sure the last thing Porsche wants is individual customers dictating their logistics which would likely only slow things down further.

This part I agree with. The steering wheel thread is very disappointing.
