Quite. However the point isn't about Lease vs other but about the fact that they are assuming a residual value of the Performance Battery Plus option as higher than its cost.

Have to say finance cost difference has probably convinced me to go for it (from initial viewpoint of it not being necessary for my daily use / @ £4.5k a lot for not much more range / power); i think it makes about £1500 difference on the finance quote I got from my local OPC when you factor in higher residuals at the end of PCP - therefore I think I will now probably spec it at that real cost....

Nope...not for me. £4.6K for a tad more range and a bit more top end power, which in all honesty I'm not going to able to use on UK roads very often is taking the piss TBH. I don't have range anxiety, I don't do that many miles and I certainly don't do long distances very often or never. I have a charger at home and we have multiple chargers at work so I guess it made sense (to me anyway) to spend on other options.

….Added to that shedding 80kg in an already heavy car is a huge upside. At the moment I'm more than happy with my choice, Only time will tell if I come to regret it later!

The things that make the battery plus a necessity in my view:-

1. Second/resale value - you will lose more than you spend on it. Its also a lot more attractive with it.
2. There can be no other option that is more important than this.
3. Extra performance.
4. Battery degradation - it will degrade and you don't have a lot to start with.
5. Its not going to be available for some time.

I still remember the relief when I upgrade my 85 kWh MS to a 100 kWh and how liberating that was. I could drive to Birmingham at any speed I liked. I could put my boat on the roof rack and drive to Italy and back. I could drive to our house in Scotland and not charge for a week (there's no mains there).

My situation may be different to yours. Maybe you have a second ICE car you rely on? If you do, it makes sense. Otherwise I strongly advise getting the bigger battery.

I've got the car on a 3 year business lease. I don't care about resale values...

The battery won't degrade within a 3 year period...not by anything significantly anyway. Funnily enough I asked this very question at Porsche and their reply was pretty emphatic saying that degradation would be below 3% within the first 5 years of the cars life.

If range was a big deal for me I'd of bought a Tesla....but it isn't. Just as well as Tesla's are dreadful looking things LOL

Yes I do have a ICE car for longer family trips with the dog.

No...should i? To be fair Its too late now anyway, The car has been on order since November. I can't change anything anyway. You'll see me on the side of the road out of juice gutted that I didn't pay for the extra 35 miles of battery

Yes they are over a 2/3 year lease. Although I am buying and not leasing I added on the Performance Battery Plus as the Residual Value Predictions show that the the bigger battery will be worth more on resale, for at least the 1st 3 years of the cars life, than its extra cost at new.

I said it earlier and shall say it again - a 4S without the performance battery will be bad news at resale - confirmed by 3 different people at Porsche now including a specialist at launch!

I just got The Thing yesterday and it drives so nice and fast, you really want all the kWh in the car that you can get. Life is too short to spend it waiting at charging stations, if you could rather do a few more cheekily fast miles somewhere !

Hi, I am just about to place my order, currently with the perf battery plus. Given this will be through salary sacrifice, resale vales are not an issue. My reason for adding was the 800v architecture that will speed up charging and increases performance, which the smaller battery does not have.. There is not much out there on what charge times are for the smaller battery and the dealers in the UK are not sure either. Does anyone have details on the differences?

Performance wise I found this (10% more hp is a lot more than just a larger battery).
Though the 4S is one model, it'll be offered with two different power levels. The standard version has a single-layer, 79.2-kilowatt-hour battery, with 429 horsepower (522 hp on overboost in launch control) and 472 pound-feet of torque. The Performance Battery Plus option, however, has the two-layer, 93.4-kWh battery from the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S, delivering 482 hp (563 hp on overboost) and 479 lb-ft in this application.
