I know I’m in the minority here, but I really don’t want to hear those sounds. I’ve tried to figure out how to turn them off but don’t seem to be able. I clicked the three buttons on the Drive page, chose vehicle settings and didn’t see an option there to turn off sounds.

On your middle dash screen click the car icon, then you should see the sound option. I believe it’s one of three options to click on for the sound.

Nope, it's not there.

nope, see attached.
FYI I don’t have adaptive air suspension which is why I don’t have chassis level in my list.

Then, if you have the Electric Sport Sound optioned I don't have a clue. From what I've read there is some sound, that gets progressively louder, up to a specific speed, but that is the pedestrian warning sound (engine sound) and can't be turned off. I don't know how much of that you can hear from within the car, maybe one of other folks can speak to that.

It seems the OP doesn't have the Electric Sport Sound option. He is referring to the normal sound the Taycan makes. This is a safety sound so pedestrians can know when the vehicle is approaching and can not be turned off unless someone has identified a fuse you can pull to disable but I wouldn't recommend doing this.

you must be right about that, I checked my list of options, and it doesn't include Electric Sport Sound. Okay I get that the vehicle makes noise for pedestrians. However I hear the zooming sound even when on the highway. Or maybe that's the sound (when I'm in sports mode) of going from 1st to 2nd gear perhaps?

Hmm.. I always hear some sounds. The motors make sound. Even on the freeway when I add some throttle, I can still hear the motors. Were you thinking that the car wouldn't make any sound?

The sound you're hearing is not fake. It is the actual sound the motors make. The option some are referring to(Electric Sport Sound) allows for that sound to be amplified/enhanced and piped in the cabin (i drive with this on all the time). I absolutely love this sound myself and would gladly pay extra to have it.

There is an additional sound played on the outside of the car for safety purposes and that I don't think you can adjust at all as it is mandated.

I tried the sport sound twice on demo cars and ended up switching it off after a couple of minutes. One of the biggest benefits of an EV over an IC engined car is they are quieter but they are not silent.
The motor doesn't make much noise but the reduction gearing between motor and the wheels makes a whining noise which one hears much more clearly on an EV since the motor is so quiet. There is just as much tyre noise too.

I quite like the sound of some petrol engines but increasingly we have low reving turbos with fewer cylinders so very few sound good today compared to, say, the 1990s.
I don't mind a noisy multi-cylinder NA sports car, I have enjoyed them for decades, but for general use, and particularly if it is just banal noise, which is the norm nowadays, or fake I'd rather not have it at all.

Heretic!

A sound engineer slaved over the perfect sounding fake electric engine sound for a simulated moment of real audible joy.

Or something like that.
