I started out by working with the General Sales Manager (who responded to my email enquiry) and he's helped direct since then - he connected me with a sales guy who's been honestly great.

Yeah, there's been a bit of a push for finance products with me too - but that's been typical with every dealer.

I did, however, have a receipt for my deposit within minutes of me paying it, as well as a signed order form.

Despite the fact that I'm not buying a super high end car (like the Turbo S) I've been made to feel like a valued customer. I'm sorry that your experience @DynamoCappo hasn't been the same.

PM me if you like, and I'll share the GM's email details - maybe reach out to him?
Yeah we had a receipt and booklet confirming things after the deposit was paid too. It's the finance "quirk" that had us questioning it being in the system as they essentially had no record of us or approval to process the order at their end (despite having the depot cash) in all that time.

Point remains though that if my wife doesn't check something, I've no idea when they were noticing it and at what point that would all come to a head.

Might be that they ask HQ for that model and whether the finance is sorted or not doesn't figure in that process as far as the dealership goes. Given the lead times, it's reasonable to assume they've got time to process all that in due course.

I've never felt too pressured on the extras being upsold. The ones suggested were sensible and I've added enough myself to probably limit much push from them to hit a sales value.

I'll drop you a wee line later. Cheers.

This is terrible stuff and not what you would expect from a luxury brand.

Is glasgow part of the Sytner group ?

I would perhaps call or go in and ask to speak to the sales manager to get some reassurances on when the order was in - maybe say you don’t have the date it was submitted to hand and let them tell you when it was put in and see if this matches the deposit date!

Tell them it’s top of the range car and perhaps see what they say on dates and what they can do to make it right ?
Yeah, we've basically done that around the time of the finance being sorted.

One of the senior guys popped over for a chat during our 2nd visit and made the mistake of asking how I was. Haha.

I was polite enough but he knew it hadn't been plain sailing.

Since that point, the process has been smoother but my cornern was any damage was done initially meaning a loss of time on the ordering timescales plus my attitude was slightly soured by them too and that only subsides when the car arrives and it all works out.

Hopefully it all pans out.

Did you get anything thrown in with the car ? In the least they should do a wax on it and boot liners i would have thought for the inconvenience.

Haven't asked yet. They'd mentioned a wax or protective type process at one stage so it might be something I think about for when we start moving towards a confirmed date.

I’m not sure it’s who you are or even If you come in a chauffeur driven Rolls!

Ultimately, the dealers have the power to put you in the list up or down and they will probably only move people they know who have ordered from them before Or people they are friends with. I am therefore not convinced that name dropping someone in Porsche would work unless it’s someone who has influence on how many cars that dealer gets or someone high up in that company..

For example, if you want a GT3 you would probably need to be a special customer who has bought 10 cars from them to even go on the list. You can buy one new at £140k but you can sell them for £250k. If not you would get laughed out. Dealers get like 1 a year maybe of these cars.

Remember, all car companies have this issue and some are a lot worse (even Audi)…. It’s just about patience even though you just want to get it now!

Good luck though hopefully you get a slot soon!
I hadn’t realised this.
As far as I was concerned I expected my order to go in a queue in the order in which the dealer received it.

Queue jumping is offensive IMO, whoever your mate is :).

Now I know it happens I wish I hadn’t ordered a car from my local dealer but I didn’t so I did..

IIRC you have a very highly spec'ed build, so if there has been any adjustment to your dealership order-date-based queue position, I reckon your more profitable order will have been at least as likely to have been promoted because of that, as to have been demoted to make way for a "favoured" regular customer. I also get the impression that, when production capacity is compromised, Porsche centrally prioritize the most profitable builds.

I’m guessing the lag between vehicle locking and going into production is the summer shutdown. I’ll take this schedule if they keep to it but I know there could be additional delays to come. Put down my deposit in March this year.

My dealer told me that because lease companies get a discount these are lower in priority.

All in all it makes me think it best to wait for a confirmed build slot before trying to squeeze some freebies out of them, else the consequence of free mats might be demotion down the queue

To be fair, Glasgow Audi is the same. The RS4 came from Somerset.

I ordered back in November last year, and my car is slowly moving through the build process.
This is my first new-build Porsche, after a couple of "off the lot" purchases while I lived in the USA. I'm incredibly excited for our new Taycan!

A couple of questions:

1. I know we don't get the full "Track Your Dream" experience here in the UK. This is the latest status I got from my dealer, which shows the car is built. Why does the My Porsche thing still show "Your Vehicle is Scheduled for Production"

2. Has the delay for others for 12v batteries really been this massive? I assume that's why it's showing a *two month* wait at the port? :\

Believe me, the "full track your dream experience" isn't that great... It has often told me my 4S would arrive in the US before it was shipped and has been telling me for 29 days since the car arrived at Emden that it would be on the boat by July 8 (still says that though it isn't on the boat yet). I don't know if the event management at Porsche is crippled due to covid or the russian invasion in the Ukraine, but it makes me wonder if Porsche "engineering" at this level is such a mess whether there may also be issues in the design/manufacturing floor levels. Doubt the car can make it to me by the end of July and wondering if it will even be in August at this point. You'd think there might be some way of finding out when cars will be put on a boat to the US...

In fairness I think it was designed for another more pleasant time, back when supply chains weren’t being ripped to shreds on a seemingly weekly basis. ?

The issue is, i need an estate for the dog. the i4 doesnt work for my needs. The iX is repulsive. The Audi' e-tron GT lovely but boot issue. The Lotus Eletre looks interesting but much prefer the Taycan.
I got sick of getting the fob off from the dealer (best guess for delivery is Q3 2023 for a CT 4S) so I've put a deposit down for a Lotus Eletre. Obviously very few have seen one in the flesh unless you went to Goodwood, but the numbers look good and the dealer actually seemed bothered!!
