There are lots of Tesla things you can do with an Apple watch. I'm in the Android camp and use a Tesla API to unlock my charge port by tapping my phone on an RFID tag on my cable. Would be useful to have a Porsche API but I imagine the their client base is a lot less nerdy ?
I'm a nerd, there I freely admit it, and I have zero interest in this watch. I love my Apple watch for many reasons and would never give it up :) My wife on the other hand loves her Rolex and wouldn't think of giving that up. Whenever I look at my wife's watch all I can think of is how many geeky toys I could buy with what it cost. Not that I ever mention that to my wife mind you ;)

That would be a much better option in my opinion, but the colors aren’t for me - and I’m of the camp that I like my speedy’s to be hand wound.

The main difference between a mechanical watch and a smart watch is that in 2 years time, one of them will be in a watch case, while the other in a landfill…
Well, maybe, but since I trade in my Apple Watch every two or three years, more often than I trade my cars, it isn't an issue for me.

Those complaining about battery life ... c'mon, we drive a Taycan that needs frequent charging! ? At least the watch's charger doesn't complain about overheating. ? No smartwatch will ever compare to the multi-day battery life I used to see on a Pebble watch, but then again, few people remember how BlackBerry phones also used to run for multiple days. Nowadays, everything is charged at night -- phone, watch, and car.
I'm not so sure about that. Garmin has some pretty compelling options:

Probably the more direct comparison from their luxury line, with 12 days of battery life:
https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/608665/pn/010-02006-00#specs

Less luxury focused, but 22 days of charge with solar:
https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/735520/pn/010-02540-20#specs

Watches are obviously very personal decisions, so there's many reasons to choose one over another, but you certainly shouldn't ignore battery life comparisons for smart watches.

To be clear though, what you've got does seem pretty nice, and the screen seems to be higher quality than the Garmin ones.

with 12 days of battery life:
I think that’s a max with most of the features off or not used. As soon as you start wanting more continuous monitoring, always on display, GPS, music, it drops considerably. I’m not saying it’s not still much better, but the 12 days headline in isolation is a little misleading IMO.

Oh absolutely on the GPS/Music/Display points, though I do think everything other than Pulse Ox monitoring is included in that 12 days estimate. I don't have first hand experience with it, just something that I've taken a look at every year or so to see how things look, and these are the first smartwatches that actually make me think about getting one because the battery could last over a long vacation.

There’s some better information available on the Venu 2, which has similar battery specs to the Marq (about 90% or so). I didn’t see a similar breakout for the Marq.

https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=A1gzB6SLZF6e9nnyZOfFM6

Always on really kills it.

I just picked up a Venu 2 a couple of weeks ago and I see about 2-3 days.
Pulse ox off except sleeping, GPS/music about 6 hours a week, but I have always on turned on. I don’t like the “off” look.
My always on is mostly black, but still has an analog clock though.

The non-AMOLED displays are probably much better for battery purposes.

The My Porsche app works as advertised. Battery SOC is updated every few minutes, and being able to set the AC to precool the car is great! The blue accents are a close, but not exact match for the blue used on the instrument panel. It looks really sharp in person.

The watch complication showing the battery SOC has a wave effect, just like the battery display on the center console.
I like the look of this tag as far as smart watches go. Now if we could only get the My Porsche app on the Apple Watch. I see no need for seeing mileage or SOC on my watch but it sure would be nice to trigger pre-cooling. Maybe Tag can incorporate Apple Pay into their connected watch. Fat chance! LOL

Google Wallet works exactly the same as Apple Pay for NFC tap-to-pay. I pay with my Amex and Visa cards frequently on the TAG Heuer Connected.

I went to a Withings smart watch because its battery life is about a month between charges, it doesn't have a touch screen and has normal hands rather than a big screen.
I do like ceramic on watches and the lightness of a Ti case but I am not prepared to spend much money on anything with as short a usable life as a smart watch (or smart speaker, for example).
I also went back to an iPhone because of the short battery life of the top model (at the time) Samsung watch I changed to. I gave my iWatch away, partly because of battery life partly because of random unintended touch screen activations.

Having written that I really fancy one of these...

I had a Withings, but I found it didn’t do half of what I wanted a smart watch today. They look nice and have a great battery life though.

I really like the tag Heuer watch look but at that price it’s far too much and again: won’t do half of what an Apple Watch will do.

If you’re fairly integrated into the Apple ecosystem, the the Apple Watch is a no-brainer. As has been said: I use it for all exercise, MFA on my various accounts, it unlocks all my Macs and my iPhone and Apple Pay/apple wallet integration is seamless. I don’t sleep with a watch on, so charging at night is just part of the routine.

I keep my 1970 Breitling Navitimer for days/nights out and my Nite MX10 which was a trusty daily driver hasn’t been used in ages. I nearly bought an Omega Seamaster recently but I just wouldn’t get the use out of it so I didn’t. Might pick one up at some point though.

I am the same.
The problem, for me, was the touch screen, particularly in winter when sliding back the sleeve of my jumper to read the time sometimes sent the watch off who knows where!
Touch screens are flexible but a jack of all trades and a master of the unintended selection.
It does far more than I needed so I gave it to my son, who loves it.

My first Apple product was a Macintosh II in 1987. I wish I had bought shares instead!
I have had Apple computers ever since and gave away my PC laptop when I retired.
I happened to be in Oxford the day the iPhone was released so I popped in to look at it and walked out with one and used one ever since except for a short Android detour when something annoyed me but just discovered the top model Samsung I had bought was worse in every way, so went back…

fair enough, albeit I’ve never found that it’s too sensitive. I do also use a case with mine to stop it being destroyed and that may help (although my wife doesn’t find that happens either and she never uses a case). Either way: they certainly fit some peoples use cases but not all. We have a load of Apple kit and subscriptions so the Watch slots in very nicely indeed.

EDIT: I've had every phone since the original iPhone too, literally every generation. Wish I'd have kept them all as it would be quite a cool collection. I still have a 3GS though!

Oh and same with the shares. When I went to Uni I was going to buy £1000 in shares but then my car broke and I decided to fix that instead, always regretted it!

I'm a long-time Garmin wearer, and my previous Garmin Marq Athlete finally gave in to the battery gremlins after years of constant use. I decided to buy the TH Connected as a change because I wanted something a bit "smarter" that I could use for my running commute to work AND keep it on in the office. My 2pc (personal opinions only):

Pros: Looks great, feels great quality. Lovely clasp. Slick interface, nice screen. Beautiful packaging (although pointless imo).
Cons: Terrible terrible battery life, it wouldn't even last 24 hours if I did a 10k run and wore it in the office after. Extremely limited athlete functionality [compared to Garmin]. GPS very slow to pick up, sometimes so slow I gave up and ran without GPS because I couldn't be later for work. Very expensive for what it is - already obsolete in terms of functionality imo which makes the price even more of an issue.

Overall I was incredibly disappointed with it, and returned it. I would only recommend this watch if: 1) you have enough money that you are "meh" about the price, 2) you do not do any serious exercise, 3) you don't mind daily or even intra-day charging.

After returning it I bought the Garmin Epix 2, which looks pretty decent but the functionality, battery life and features are just unrivalled for my use cases. No regrets.

I have to give credit to Tag customer support though, I had no problem returning it even after I'd properly road tested the watch. I guess they were sympathetic that it just couldn't work for me.

It seems to be sold out in most markets at this stage – or they didn't make too many.
