Cheap Mobile Charger

Any views on this. Seems very cheap only 200 euros. I'm in France. This looks like the same unit Carplug sell for 340 euros. I was thinking of getting this to carry in the car so I can leave the PMCC in the garage.

Also if I buy the this 32A version I'm assuming an adaptor blue 3 pin to UK 3 pin 13A would be fine as then I would be charging at 10A. Yes I realise this will take for ever but I could top up when visiting relatives in the UK. I often stay at my parents in the UK.

The units have an industrial connector which requires to connect to an industrial receptacle.

I'm not sure if its a good idea to use plug adapters or indeed if this is an option - they do exist but perhaps consult with an electrician first.

The trouble with using that fly lead is the the unit might “think” it is attached to a 16A source when in fact it is only a 13A source resulting in a higher drain on your 13A plug than it should. I imagine the fuse would blow

Why would you buy that if you get the PMCC delivered with the car? You will have some extra leads with that and I am sure you could buy a proper cable to connect to 13 amp 3 pin in the UK.

From the specification on that site there are conflicting messages about the size. But if you check the pictures it looks like a unit just as large as the PMCC and weighs about the same. Look at the guy carrying the bag. If you only have in mind to use it at your parents home, I would in that case just buy their unit for a 13 amp plug and leave that in the UK.

I would definitely not try to use adapters to go from a 32 amp plug to a 13 amp 3 pin. Some electrician on here will probably have some views on that. I guess using some adapters etc. would spell disaster. The EVSE can handle 32 amp and calls for that through a 13 amp plug. Will probably result in a Fuses galore! In best case.

It is cheap but is there a reason for that??

I suspect the OP wants to use the same mobile EVSE in UK and in Europe and so the potential of using a fly lead becomes attractive (if safe and compatible to do so).

UK has plenty of EVSEs dotted around and so I wouldn't be sourcing a mobile EVSE in the first place as it is really not needed - bulky to carry and glacial charging speed (0.1 mile / minute). Planning is key to charging as we all know - that's all that's needed here IMHO.

I was assuming this unit is much smaller and cheaper so I don't have to worry abut damage. Cheap enough to buy 2.

If you ready you can select 10A so if using through an adaptor Blue 3 pin to UK 3 pin it would not cause any overload. I agree putting 32A through an adaptor is a no no but this is going through a UK plug which would have a 13A fuse in it so any overload would blow this.

The UK version of PMCC comes with 2 supply leads - industrial connect and 3 pin UK 13A plug. Both are interchangeable as you know and I had suggested to simply source the PMCC UK supply cable for OP's France sourced PMCC.

It won’t be cheap. It is a Porsche cable. I thing additional cables for the Porsche EVSE are about £200. Check on the confuserator under the E mobility section

Its not listed there - only industrial type connectors.

Contact a Porsche dealership for a price - make sure you are specific - UK 3 pin 13A supply cable for PMCC.

My guess is around £120 (outrageous I know!).
