Audi had bad experience with this as well.
If you do not need 10.000 NM wheel torque and 300 kph, a single speed transmission should be fine after all.

regarding heat pump I am quite sure that even Tesla's Octovalve super-duper heat pump is not really working with extracting energy from air but somehow generating heat with internal pumping at the same effiency or COP of 0.95 like the aux heater.
Same was true with the heat pump in the VW ID.3 which was nicely tested by some youtubers.
