Very useful Fish fingers. So looks like 45 days ahead they contacted you. I’ve had nothing yet and minus 31 days, so unsure what my options are/ will be. Given the fact last time my contact rolled over I’m not going to contact them and will see what happens!

I will def be better off with a dual rate tariff as charge alot over night on cheap rate and currently use more off peak than peak overall, although with the heating coming on this will change but only for a few months.

Also, be interesting to know if your 37p is capped ? Does your bill show any detail? As In theory it should be ? Unless they average out with the cheaper 4 hour unit rate and this takes it under the cap?

I bet they are overwhelmed currently taking on all the Bulb customers.

Great company though. I do generally trust them to do they best they can for their customers.

I am pretty sure (although I can't find it) that I got an email that says Govt told Octopus that you don't qualify for the capped rate if you have dual rate.

guess that would make sense if the dual rate means the average comes under cap but still slightly annoying!

Yes, I’ve been very happy with them. I’d of thought the prompt email was auto generated through, so busyness not relevant? ( I am clutching at straws hoping a might get missed again so forgive my desperate nature!)

Hi- interested in views from anyone on octopus go. I’m currently on 15p day rate and 5p for 4 hours overnight. Contract was due up on Dec 21 but for some unbeknown to me reason rolled automatically for another year so now due to expire in 31 days in 21st Dec 22. Happy days had a year of super cheap ( by todays standards) motoring.

Anyone else had this? What are the chances of it rolling again?

Second point I’ve been pondering is it says energy firms have to give you notice of new tariffs. I’m 31 days out and no contact?. Is this a good sign? I read somewhere it should be 45 days?

Third point is I’ve googled the rates as per below so now 12p over night/ 44p day. This is a generic google as nothing on my account to check. Do I get these rates or do you get a more favourable offer if current customer?

Last q. With the rates cap now circa 35p until March. Do they cap the higher rate to 35p and you get 12p overnight or do they blend the 2 so in essence you pay a higher day rate due to the 4 hours at 12p?
Yes: A real shame? we have also gained a low cost year.

Hi, so yours rolled over as well? Was this recent and just the once? Any idea why it rolled over if so?

I’m going to starting looking into options as my car is due to arrive soon. One thing I’m finding odd is you only get a 4 hour cheap window and the trade off is more expensive during the day than a standard tariff.
The thing that keeps me wondering if it takes much much longer than 4 hours to charge at 7Kw then you’ll end up back at the higher rate for more than half the charge. I guess it works if you aren’t using much power and just top up charge.

Yeah, it is a bit skewed now. When it first came out peak rate was competitive with all other suppliers and the 5p 4 hours a bonus. I’ve had mine 2 years and very rarely charged outside of cheap window. I do about a 1000 miles a month. Luckily as my mileage most days isn’t too high, if I do do a longer journey I can refill over 2 or sometimes 3 nights. Of course this won’t work for everyone. Guess you’ll need to predict some numbers and do the math once you have the options.

Hi All

I’ve had solar panels installed at a cost of £11k. The great value is that they charge my PHEV using a Zappi v2 charger that octopus installed.
I also obv use the 7.5p 4 hour slot but also charge my house battery during those hours too.
The beauty is also when it has been sunny I’ve managed to top up the battery as at 4.30am it’s running the house and the solar tops that up and charges the vehicle. When they are all full I run dishwasher/washing machine and heat my water.
I’ve got 10.4kw of battery storage and that can run the house as long as I get a couple of hours of solar energy.

when my Taycan does arrive, hopefully in April I reckon I will be able to leave it plugged in all day and top that up before I send power to the grid.
In 2 months - 72kw to the grid which is a waste..

it’s worth thinking about solar energy if you plan to stay in your house.. I’ve not had a summer yet but I think April to October I’ll not need much grid power.

A per my attachments above.

I use about 50/50 cheap rate/full rate.
2 adults / 3 bed town house

You can charge the car from about 50% to 85% in the 4 hours.

I did 11k in my first year and charged nearly always at home on cheap rate. Only charged twice away from home.

ABC - Always be charging.

Even if I am on 75% I will still plug in and charge to 85%.
It makes even more sense now to utilise your (much) cheaper rate.

How much did the battery storage cost? I assume it was additional to the £11k solar install?
Looking into a similar setup at the moment, working out costs ?

So the exact costs where as follows:
Solar 4.8 KW of panels (11 panels 385watts each) and a 5.2 KW/h battery was £10795. I've ordered an additional battery at £3300 - it was supposed to be installed yesterday but problems on the previous job meant the sparky couldn't get over. Charging two batteries up overnight means I can run the house all day most of the time. The other option is Tesla Powerwall but they have long lead times and pretty pricey..

Just as a heads up on the stats:

Installed Mid October - I charge the battery overnight.
205kw/h generated
70 kw/h exported

In Nov so far
77.4 kw/h generated
2.3 kw/h exported

I wasn't entirely happy with the location of some of the panels but the installer said wait until you have done a summer and then see, I expect based on the sunny days in October that I will be filling up everything and sending power to the grid too..

As I want to keep my house for a good decade I will probably install some air conditioners next year as well to heat and cool the downstairs - need to do some investigation on this and detach from Gas use as much as possible.

I have a Zappi V2 car charger, which is great but it can't work out if energy oil coming from battery storage or solar panels. It has a trickle charge and full charge as well as top up in the app.

Hope this helps.
